Chapter 3: Death of a Primus

Sha Lin peaked over at the gate. "There is only two of us now... How does your plan go?" "You'll sneak past the guards and get the next key sphere. Khan got the second one." She motioned at the second glowing light. "Once you get the key sphere, Po-Li and I will distract the soldiers. You help Furia and once your done you put the key sphere in its spot and then we can regroup near the last keys here." "What if I can't get Furia to wake up?" "Then we have already failed. There are only three of us! I doubt we can beat him without Furia." Sha Lin nodded and snuck past the guards.

The key sphere was blocked by a large wall. There was a small hole that let out a ray of light. Sha Lin took two arrows. He pulled himself up the wall using the arrows. His arm began to glow once more when he reached the top.

Pain surged through his body. His bones felt crushed and consciousness left his body. A sharp pain sent through his left eye and his lungs filled with dust. He was at Ascension Peak. A silhouette appeared between the dust and blood. It picked up his arm and the markings was burned into it. She Lin let out a cry of pain. "I'm giving you a second chance. Don't waste it." The voice was harsh. He passed out once more.

A bright light woke Sha Lin up. "Get up Sha Lin!" Moji poked the archer. Furia offered him a hand. "The soldiers are coming, they have the second key sphere in place. We need a plan." The key sphere's gate lowered. "Moji, can your lizards carry the key sphere by themselves?" "Yes." "A head-on attack would be suicide. We'll have to ambush them." Sha Lin checked to see if the two were still listening, both stared intently. "Furia will fight Khan. I'm sure you have a score to settle. Moji and I will knock out the guards. Then Po-Li will bring the next key sphere to the gate. Moji will keep an eye on them." Sha Lin just finished explaining as two patrolling guards headed in their direction. "Spread out."

The soldiers headed toward the key sphere. Sha Lin leaped from the ruin he stood on. He pounced on one of the soldiers and knocked out the other. He motioned for Moji to run for it. Khan's thundering footsteps grew louder. Sha Lin got back into his hiding spot.

Khan headed toward the key sphere gate. An odd purple substance covered the gate. "What is this?" He said aloud and looked around. He noticed the two unconscious guards. "Rebel cowards. Reveal yourself!" Sha Lin took a deep breath. "Wind hide me." He whispered to himself. He leaped from his spot and shot at the man. With each shot, there were doubles of Sha Lin that appeared, meant to confuse the man. "Show him no mercy," Furia growled as she revealed herself from her hiding spot.

A burning sensation grew around Sha Lin's back. He felt faster and stronger as he loosed arrows from his bow. Khan held up a shield which blocked most of them. Furia sent a beam of light toward Khan. He let out a battle cry and charged toward the angel. Sha Lin leaped on Khan's back and dug two arrows under his shoulder pads. The man fell to his knees. "Surrender." "Never!" Furia inched closer to the towering figure. "Your resistance is fleeting and your hope is fleeting." Khan spat venomously as he pulled Sha Lin from his back and threw him at Furia. The angel caught him and put the archer down like he was a child.

Furia inched closer to the warrior. "The Magistrate is just a puppet for a much bigger threat." Her blade entered his chest."Long live the Magistrate." Khan wheezed as his life distinguished. Sha Lin felt unsteady as he noticed that Furia's eyes were filled with an unquenchable fire.

Khan was dead.

He had no love for the behemoth but he didn't expect to see the yellow lights of his eyes fade away. The blindfolded woman from his dream appeared behind Furia, smirking she put her finger to her lips and shushed the frightened archer. Dread filled his throat as the woman vanished. A loud ding interrupted his train of thought.

Furia glanced at Sha Lin. "Come on. We are almost done." She removed her blade from Khan's dead body. Blood covered the whole sword and crimson red covered bright silver. Furia struck the purple substance and the last key sphere revealed. A golden dragons face was carved on this key sphere. Furia picked it up. "Come on." They headed toward the gate.

What would their prize be?
