Chapter 7

Luka pov

The rest of the day went by extremely slowly. Nothing really happened...well except for the fact that Leo turns up for the last two hours of lessons. But it didn't really change anything because he ended up spending the last two hours bent over his desk sleeping.

And I definitely didn't make a good impression on the teacher with all this sleeping and daydreaming in class.

I woke up just before the last bell rang, I look around to see Leo leaning back in his chair. He was only partially following the lesson, his eyes trained on his phone below his desk. On the other side of the room, Erik was snoring away, his head in his arms.

Just then the bell rang, Leo slipped his phone into his back pocket and got up. I did the same putting my books, which I had hardly used all day, back into my bag. We were about to head out when we realised that a certain grey-headed boy was not following us.

We turn back around to see where he is, only to realize that he was still sitting at his desk sleeping away.
Leo sighed "really? He must have slept all day, how is he still tired?"

"Oversleeping ?" I answered

We walked over to him and Leo grabs him by the arm to pull him up.

"oi, idiot it's time to go. Get up"

"mm... Don't wanna" he pulls his arm out of Leo grasp and leans back on his desk. Leo, looking pissed off, leaned down on one knee so his face was right in front of Erik's. He looks up at me and smirks. God did that smirk make him look mischievous. He leans to whisper into Erik's ear but still loud enough that I could hear what he was saying.

"If you don't get up right now Mister Lansond, I will tell are new friend here what happened at camp last summer ." he now had an even bigger smirk on his face, which made him look like he was enjoying... whatever this was.

Right when he finished speaking, Erik shoots up and out of his chair.

" DON'T YOU DARE O'BRIAN OR I WILL KILL YOU" he shouted, his face was completely red and he glaring daggers at Leo.I'm guessing he really didn't want me to find out about this thing because he grabbed his bag and ran out the classroom.

Leo let out a small laugh.

"what was that about? What happened in camp?"

Leo got up off the floor,

"I'll tell you later, let's just go before he has a meltdown"

Wow, I can't tell if he is joking about the meltdown or not.

We find Erik in the car park leaning against a bike, his face was still a bit red and he was most definitely sulking. He was looking at his phone, which by the way looked both like it was from the 1990' and a brick at the same time

"H..hey" omg did he just stutter!? This is priceless!

He cleared his throat before saying anything else "do you guys wanna head over to Poppy's? Robin is going to meet us there."

"who is Poppy?" Robin's girlfriend? His grandmother?

"not a who Luka but a what, Poppy's is an old dinner that is on the road back to Ayoha," Leo answered heading to his bike that was next to Erik's.

Do they all have a motorbike? Because I want one especially if it's as cool as Erik's. I think it is a Harley Davidson but I couldn't tell you which one.

"and Pop's makes the best milkshakes ever" Erik added. "you in?"

I don't even think about it and grab the helmet that he had handed to me.

For once I have someone who wants to hang out with me other than my cousin, who was my best friend at my old school, and my sister.

"Of course I am" I get on to the back of his bike. "how long is it going to take to get there?"

"about 10 minutes" he answered.

**time skip**

We get to the diner in less than 10 minutes and I'm pretty sure Erik got at least a few speeding tickets because of that.

I get off the bike to see that Leo was right, the diner did look a bit old but not in a bad way, it looked like it was right out of the '60s. Between the bright neon lights that were just above the rectangular building's front doors spelling the word 'Poppy's', and the red and white colours on the side of the building.

It looked good.

We walk in and Erik heads straight to the counter that also had red and white patterns on it. Erik started to talk to one of the older looking men that was sitting behind the counter reading the newspaper. He was a bit on the large side with dark chocolate skin and honey brown eyes.

"Hey Pop's it's bin' a while"

The man looked up from the paper and gave Erik a small smile.

"Hey kid, what y' a doing here? You do realize what would happen to you if my wife were to see you here after what happened last time."

"Yeah, yeah it fine she wouldn't notice " but he still looked around dinner with a slightly panicked look on his face.

"as long as the missus is not here it's fine," he says going back to what he was doing.

"Thanks Pop's," he says with a big smile.

We all head over to one of the booths and sat down.

"sooooo, is anyone going to tell me what that was about with Pops?" I ask the two boys sitting in front of me. Leo looked over the smaller boy next to him.

"do you want me to tell him?" God....does he always have that perfect smirk on his face?

"you make it sound like I did something really bad," he said punching Leo in the arm but Leo doesn't even flinch. He just turns back to look at me.

" a couple of weeks ago Leo, Angel and I were celebrating my birthday and we..." Leo elbowed him in the side "I mean I decided that it would be a great idea to set off some fireworks in the back of Poppy's..."

But before he could finish his explanation a female voice came from behind me and finished what he was saying.

"and you ended up blowing up Pop's wife's favourite flowerbed and the only reason that you are allowed to be here is because Robin fixed Pops computer as a favour so he doesn't say anything to his wife" I turn round to see Robin standing there with a tall blond girl who was leaning over my side of the booth. She had a kind of punk vibe going with blood-red skirts, a black band t-shirt and dark makeup.

" Angel, you just have to have the spotlight," Erik said with a smile on his face.

"Hello to you too Erik, Leo and... new guy?" she sits in the booth next to me. It was a bit of a surprise and a squeeze because Robin decided to sit next to her too so I ended up being squashed against the window.

"n..names Luka, Luka Williams"

"Angel. Don't ask about the name, my parents just have weird ideas about life" she replied.

"OK"

"so" she turns to look at the other "talking about doing stupid stuff, are you guys going to the party this Friday?"

"what party?" Erik asked

"You guys haven't heard? "

We all shake our heads, apart from Leo who seemed uninterested.

"well, Nick... you know... the cute one.."

"We know who he is" Leo didn't look happy at all.

"well he and his friends are having a party at his place and everybody from our school is invited, which is really weird because nobody has ever seen his house, like ever"

Seriously?! what are they? The Collins family?
