Chapter 4

Luka's pov

What the hell did I just witness?!

Robin, Leo and I were sitting next to an unconscious boy in a hospital, only 2 hours after what went down at school and I still don't understand what the hell happened.

—flashback—

After the crowd had dispersed Robin ran up to the unconscious boy who was lying in a small pool of his own blood and crouched down next to him.

"Hey River! Can you hear me?"Robin asked while shaking him, but the guy didn't move a muscle and even I could tell that he getting paler by the minute.
Robin turned to us "we need to help him"

"No we don't," said Erik, I think that was the first time I had heard Erik sound so cold.

But Leo didn't listen to him, walking past us to pick River up. I helped Leo put River on his back as we half sprinted to the hospital, which luckily was only 15 minutes away from the school. Erik had just stayed back at the school saying he will cover for us but I felt like there was some other reason.

Once we were inside A&E, one of the nurses came and took care of River. She said that they had called his parents but they were out of town and couldn't get here until tomorrow. So we just decided to stay because Robin didn't want to leave the poor guy. I wonder what he had done to get into this mess. It feels like they may have a history from the way Robin and Erick talk about him but I can't be 100% sure.

So we just sat there for a while until Erik arrived.

"Well he looked like shit," he said sitting on the bench with me.

"Erik!" Leo and I shouted at the same time.

"Stop being an ass," Leo said shocking me a bit. "can't you see that he is in pain".

"Sorry," he said but I'm pretty sure he didn't mean it. He shifted over to Robin who was sitting in front of us to put his hand on his shoulder. We stayed like that for a bit until a nurse came in to do a check-up but she told us there were too many of us in the room so Leo and I went to sit down outside on one of the small benches that lined the hallways. I'm pretty sure that saying that this situation was awkward is an understatement.

Seriously Luka, think of something, anything, the silence is going to kill me.

I turned to look at Leo to say something not realizing that he was doing the same thing so we ended up cutting each other off,

"Luka..."-"hey.."

Embarrassing much.

We both looked at each other before we both started to laugh, his was more of a snicker compared to mine.

"You go first," he said once we had calmed down.

Shit, I actually didn't have anything to say. Quickly think of something!!

" Soo... Do you know him?" I pointed to the door in front of us.

He sighs leaning forward.

"Yeah, he used to hang out with us," he said, placing his elbows on his knees with his head on his hands, "but a couple of weeks ago he started to act weird..."

"Weird how?"

"I-I don't know, it just felt weird, he wasn't coming to school and no one had seen him for days and then like out of magic a few days ago he was back but he wouldn't even look at us any more, we tried to talk to him but he pushed us back. Saying that we were filth and he shouldn't talk to shit, he even ended up in a fight with Erik over the facts that he had called Robin a.... a fag and ended up getting Erik expelled for two days, which his father did not appreciate"

"That's why he didn't want to help him "

" Yeah, but I was surprised that Robin wanted to help him, he is still getting bullied for what River had said. It changed him, he used to be more open and social but now.. you know, he closed off.  I will never forgive that bastard for what he did to him and for dropping us for the same guy that just ended up beating the shit out of him"

Omg, I can't believe it, I was so pissed off but at the same time, a kind of knew what Robin was going through.

I looked over at Leo who was now trembling out of rage, I could tell there was a fire burning behind his eyes. So me being me I decided to place my hand over his, regretting it immediately thinking he might take it the wrong way but Leo didn't pull back which I was weirdly happy about. We ended up sitting like that until I fell asleep thinking about that bastard River and Alex.
