You tried to break free from the guards grasp. You managed to take one of your daggers and you stabbed the guard in the arm. Surprised, he let you go. You spun around and kicked him in the face, knocking him out instantly.
"These Rohan guards are too easy." You mumbled to yourself. You hid the guards body in a small crevice in the wall and you stole his armour.

Legolas's POV

"Aragorn, have you seen (Y/N)?" I asked.
"Last I saw her she was with us." Aragorn said.
"Well she's not with us anymore." I said.
"Legolas, I'm sure she's fine." Aragorn placed a hand on my shoulder.
"She's fine." I repeated.

Your POV

You were still in the guards armour. No one realized that he was gone. He must have been new, he did look young.

"We'll place the reserves along the wall. They can support the archers from above the gate." You heard Aragorn order.
"Aragorn, you must rest. You're no use to us half alive." Legolas said. You wished that you could run up and kiss him, but you couldn't give away your position.

Someone tapped your shoulder.
"Excuse me." Oh no.
"Yes." You said in an attempt to make your voice sound deep while hiding your face.
"Have you seen Lord Aragorn?" Eowyn asked. She was so in love with him, but he could never love her. You pointed in his direction.
"Thank you." She said as she ran to him.

You looked over at them. Legolas was looking around, presumably for you. The lost look on his face made your chest tighten.

"Aragorn! I'm to be sent with the women into the caves." Eowyn said.
"That is an honorable charge." Aragorn said sincerely.
"To mind the children, to find food and bedding when the men return. What renown is there in that?" Eowyn said desperately.
"My lady, a time may come for valor without renown. Who then will your people look to in the last defense?" Aragorn said.
"Let me stand at your side." Eowyn said.
"lt is not in my power to command it." Aragorn turned to walk away.

"You do not command the others to stay." Eowyn said. Aragorn turned back.
"They fight beside you because they would not be parted from you. Because they love you!" She blurted out.
"I'm sorry." She quickly ran away.

Now you were in the armoury. Not like you needed to be, but you couldn't blow your cover.

"Farmers, farriers, stable boys. These are no soldiers." Aragorn said.
"Most have seen too many winters." Gimli added.
"Or too few. Look at them. They're frightened. I can see it in their eyes." Legolas scoffed. Everyone stopped to look at him, including you.
"And they should be. Three hundred against ten thousand!"
"They have more hope defending themselves here than in Edoras." Aragorn countered.
"Aragorn, they cannot win this fight. They will all die!"
"Then I shall die as one of them." Aragorn stormed off. Legolas went to follow him, but Gimli stopped him.
"Let him go lad, let him be."
"I just don't want to lose [Y/N]." Legolas whispered under his breath. His lip trembling slightly.

You couldn't stay away from him like this. You walked over to him and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"You won't." You took off your helmet.
"[Y/N]? But weren't you in the caves?" Legolas asked.
"You think one stinky Rohan guard could drag into a cave?" You chuckled. He pulled you close to him and kissed you.

"Alright, we get it." Gimli grumbled making you pull away. You laughed, glad to be with your friends again.

—————

The men were walking around the battlements of Helms Deep. It was sad seeing all the poor children who might not make it tonight. There was one kid no more than 10 holding a sword the size of his leg. If they had trained the women, or simply believed that they could fight. So many of these young boys would not have to know the pains of fighting a war.

"This is a good sword. Haleth, son of Hama, there is always hope." Aragorn told a teenager.
"This isn't right." You said solemnly.
"Not at all." He agreed.

You were back in the armoury. Stocking up on some daggers, your preferred weapon. Of course, you had your own, but in a fight like this who knows what could happen. Aragon was putting on chainmail.
"We have trusted you this far. You have not led us astray. Forgive me. I was wrong to despair." Legolas seemed to appear out of nowhere. He handed the sword he was holding to Aragon.
"There is nothing to forgive, Legolas." Aragon put his hand on Legolas's shoulder.

Gimli appeared struggling with a chain mail shirt.
"We had time, I'd get this adjusted. It's a little tight across the chest." He groaned. You all lightly chuckled.

Suddenly you hear a horn sound.
"That is no orc horn." Legolas said.
"They've come." You smiled. You both ran out with Aragorn and Gimli following behind.

A large elven army march through the gates, passing the men who smile happily.  Theoden walks down the steps towards them, and sees that Haldir is leading them in bright golden armour.
"How is this possible?" He asked in bewilderment.
"I bring word from Elrond of Rivendell. An alliance once existed between Elves and Men. Long ago we fought and died together. We come to honor that allegiance." Haldir bowed. You ran up and hugged him, Aragorn following suit.
"You are most welcome." Aragorn smiled.
As Legolas hugs Haldir the elves swiftly turn towards him and stand to attention.
"We are proud to fight alongside Men once more." Haldir said.
