chapter 5; welcome to the ducks!

School wasn't as bad as I thought it would go, it was much easier having Connie with me. I even have five out of eight classes with that boy Adam. The hockey rink was barely a five minute walk from the exist we took. I was walking with Connie, Adam, Charlie, Averman, Guy, and Goldberg. I just met Guy and Goldberg, Guy and Connie are so cute. They were holding hands and laughing about something. They were far ahead of us so I was forced to talk to Adam and the rest of them.

"So new girl, gotta boyfriend?" I hear Averman ask. I laugh.

"Nope." I say popping the 'p'. "And my names Jae."

"I didn't think a pretty girl like you could be single." Goldberg says swinging and arm around my shoulders.

"Thanks?" I say as more of a question.

"You should let my mans Ad-"

"Yeah don't finish that sentence." Adam says , hitting Goldberg in the back of his head. Goldberg groans and rubs his head.

"Adam your just so nice." Goldberg says sarcastically , rolling his eyes.

"Charlie you are awfully quiet today." Averman says. Charlie just continues walking, not even aknowledging his existence.

"What am I? A ghost, can you not hear me? Am I talking to a brick wall? Was is Linda?" Averman asks.

"Linda?" I ask.

"Girlfriend." Goldberg says. I nod.

"Lay off man." Adam says , "There's clearly something wrong."

"Bromance I see." I say. That made Charlie smile, it made me happy that I made someone feel better today.

"They're the number one ship on the team, Connie and Guy who?" Goldberg says loud enough for them to hear. Connie turns around with a dirty look on her face. She flips off Goldberg and turns back around.

Goldberg begins to fake cry, "I thought you loved me Connie."

"Never that." Connie says without turning around. That made me laugh so hard for some reason.

"I thought you were different , Jae." Goldberg fake cries.

"Sorry Goldie." I say blowing him a kiss.

"Save those for Adam." Averman says , pushing me into Adam lightly.

"Sorry, I'm kinda heavy." I say , laughing my way threw my insecurities.

"You're not heavy, light actually. Besides I'm strong." He says flexing his muscles. I let out a laugh.

"I'm impressed."I say.

"You should be doll." He says with a wink.

"Adam, please stop." Averman says making gagging noises. I laugh as I walk threw the doors.

The rink was big, overwhelming. I felt at home though, finally after all of this time I felt at peace. There were players already here.Skating around the rink as a tall boy chased them with a , a rope? I look over at Adam with a confused look.

"What the hell is happening?" I ask.He laughs.

"It's a game we play, round up. Our buddy Dwayne's from Texas , pretty fun game." Adam says. I nod my head as I watch Dwayne throw the rope around a boy with black hair. He falls and hits the ice.

"You know you can take it easy on me sometimes , cowboy." The dark haired boy says, dragging out the word 'cowboy'. He stands up and Dwayne pats his back, extra hard.

"No can do, sir." Dwayne says with a laugh. The boy rolls his eyes and skates over to the bench.

"Howdy pretty lady, whats your name?" Dwayne asks through the glass. I giggle , his accent his fun to listen to.

"Jae." I yell back. He smiles.

"Nice to meet you Jae. I'm Dwayne ." He waves at me before skating off, looking for the next person to catch.

"Don't let his southern charm get to you head , sweets." Adam says walking towards the locker room. I follow closely behind him.

"Here you go." Connie says handing me pads and skates. I thank her.

"Are you sure your coach is okay with this?" I ask nervously as I put my pads on.

"Of course I'm okay with it." A man walks in. He has blonde hair with a baseball cap on. He's wearing a purple shirt with a green jacket that says 'ducks' on it and jeans.

"Coach Bombay, nice to meet you." He says sticking his hand out. I smile brightly and shake it.

"Jaelyn Williams, call me Jae though." I say. He smiles and nods.

"Welcome to the ducks Jae!"

HI! yes ik bombay isn't their coach in D3 but I just couldn't leave him out of this book. also , THIS BOOK IS 6 IN #themightyducks :') THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
