Song: So Cold by Ben Cocks feat. Nikisha Reyes-Pile

Kierra's POV

"I need you to breathe for me, okay?" Iris says staring at me in the eyes.

Gasping for breath I struggle to steady my breathing as tears pool in my eyes.

"Everything is fine, we've got everything under control, okay. I promise we know what we're doing." Iris says breathing with me.

I nod my head shakily my fingers trembling.

"Why don't you get into your bed, and we can wheel you down the hall?" Iris suggests.

Nodding my head I take another shaky breath as she helps me into the bed.

The squeaks of the wheels echo down the hallway as I'm wheeled into a dark room.

On the table next to me scalpels are lined up.

I bite my lip firmly trying to relax.

"When you're ready we're going to begin administering anesthesia, and put you under okay?" Iris states as she moves around me. "This is Kathy, she'll be your anesthesiologist today."

I nod shyly trying not to panic.

Other surgeons move around me rubbing the skin above my rib cage gently. The sharp smell of antiseptic reaches my nose, as they continue shuffling around.

"Okay, Kierra, I need you to breathe okay?" Kathy states.

I nod again.

"I'm going to place this over your face," Kathy informs me motioning to a mask, "And you're going to count to 10 in your head."

I nod slowly.

"Okay, here we go," Kathy states strapping the mask over my head.

"One."

I breathe sharply.

"Two."

I stare at the bright lights my eyes wide open.

"Three."

I feel my chest rise and fall.

"Four."

I take a breath, as the surgeons begin clustering around me ready to begin the surgery.

"Five."

Paul.

"Six."

Karen.

Since when-

Iris's POV

I carefully position the new section of lung, sewing it in place.

"All her vital signs are good, we're going to go in with the second round of anesthesia," Kathy states, as she starts up the anesthesia again.

I continue stitching the lung in place with quick precise stitches.

"Gauze," I command firmly holding out my hand.

The light white material is placed in my hand instantly.
