i knew
i knew the day
where you'll stop
loving me
will come.
i knew
those words
will pierce right
through my heart
like a dagger
and you'll end it
with a twist
when you take it out
of my chest.
i knew
our intertwined fingers
become
looser and looser
day by day;
you think i would
let it slip
without much notice.
but
you forgot that
i've always been
an observer
of things,
around me;
i feel it when
something's not right.
with the way
you move;
the way you touch
your neck unconsciously,
the way you lick
your lips without notice,
the way you dig
your nails into
your jeans
when you're telling
a lie we both know
deep down.
i've always
paid close attention
to things i admire;
too close,
in fact.
and i end up
hurting myself
again and again
even when i knew
this would happen
all along.
—i knew. i just wanna think that i'm wrong.
