"Thank you," Jason says as I hand him some breakfast.

"You're welcome," I tell him. I walk back into the room where Tai is happily eating his breakfast in bed. I sit beside him and he smiles with a face full of pancakes. I roll my eyes and laugh at him while eating a piece if bacon.

"Why aren't you getting dressed for work?" I ask.

"I really don't wanna leave you here with him," he says.

"I'll be fine Tai." He sighs and lays his head back on his pillow. "Are you sure?"

"Yes," I giggle. "Stop worrying." He smiles and sits up as he kisses my cheek. "But I want you to drive me to work okay? And take your time coming home, so you'll spend less time here. Maybe stop at a restaurant, or you can stay at mine and eat all day while I work." I laugh. "I have to come home and work on some designs," I tell him. He pouts and buries his face into his pillow.

"You're such a baby," I giggle. "Am not," he says, still pouting.

"Well you have to go to work so get up!" He chuckles and raises his hands in surrender. Then he walks to the closet and grabs a blue button down shirt and dark jeans.

"How do I look?" he says while striking a pose. "You look good," I chuckle. He puts on his shoes and drags me out of the room.

I grab the keys and we head towards the car. Tai turns the radio up loud, as always, and I start the car.

Tai's restaurant isn't that far from our house. It's only about thirty minutes away, so he's pretty upset that we got here so quickly.

"Promise me that you'll call if something happens," he tells me. "How will you get to me if something happens?" I ask. He closes his eyes and leans back in his seat. "I didn't even think about that."

"I'll just ask Jeff for a ride," he says after a minute of thinking.

I nod and he leans over, giving me a long kiss before getting out of the car. I watch as he disappears into the building.

I decide to stop and get some fabric for my new design. After that I head home and respond to Tai's text, telling him that I'm okay.

I get home and go straight to the basement. I pull out my silk fabric and the sketches that I've been working on. After pulling out the rest of the tools I need, I finally start, getting lost in my work.

...

"Mya?"

"Yeah?"

"What are you doing down here?" Jason asks, walking down the steps. "Just working on a dress," I tell him.

"Oh, so this is where the magic happens," he says. He sits down on a chair positioned in the corner of the room. After about twenty minutes of him watching me intensely, I start to get uncomfortable.

A wave of a relief rushes over me when he finally gets up but is quickly replaced by fear when he doesn't leave and instead starts to walk towards me. I try to ignore him but I suddenly feel his arms wrap around my waist.

"What are you doing?" I ask while moving away. "Nothing," he replies.

"Well could you stop touching me?"

"Why? You don't like it?" he asks with a smirk. "No I don't," I tell him. "Maybe you should just go back upstairs."

He ignores me and continues to touch me. I try to shrug him off, but he grabs onto both of my arms. His grip gets tighter and I start to panic. He turns me around and kisses me.

"Get out of my house now Jason!" I scream after pushing him away. He smirks again while shaking his head. I'm really scared right now. I thought he was a changed man, but I was wrong.

He's starting to walk towards me again. His eyes are dark, and my mind goes back to the days when he beat me. He grabs my wrist, holding it as tight as he can, slowing cutting off my circulation. He tries to pull me towards him but I act fast as I punch him in the jaw as hard as I can with my free hand.

He stumbles backward while holding his face. He wipes the blood from his mouth, glaring at me intensely.

"Get out now," I say slowly, my tone full of venom.

He gets closer and with one swing, I'm one the floor, gasping for air. My vision gets blurry and I can hear him walking up the steps. Then I hear some rustling upstairs followed by the front door slamming.

I lay on the ground breathing heavily. I try to get up, but I tense up when a I feel a rush of pain through my body. I feel something wet on my leg and try my best to look down. When I finally get my head positioned so u can see my legs, I'm horrified by what I see.

There's a dark substance rolling down my legs, ending in a puddle on the floor.

I endure the pain as I try to get to my phone. I dial Tai's number and he picks up immediately.

"Hey baby. What's wrong? Is everything okay?" he says frantically.

"Tai..." is the only thing I can get out as a tear slides down my cheek and everything goes black.
