The night was slowly passing by and, between a sophisticated plate and another, Millie began to feel bored.

Finn and Jacob kept discussing about random business she couldn't follow - or to be more specific, she could understand, but Finn forbade her to listen to, and Jenna was boring, because she kept talking about how big and beautiful was the diamond Jacob gave her the week before.

Millie took a sip of her water, and smiled cordially.

"Nice."

"And what about you and Finn? How did you two met?" the girl asked, all smiling.

"My father brought us together, ironically." Millie said, trying her best to stay in character. But the thought of her father - worried as hell because she didn't come home that Saturday, kept hunting her.

Stay strong dad, she thought.

"Oh? You should thank him!"

"Yeah, I haven't had the pleasure to thank him yet." she said almost ironically.

"And are you two living together?" Jenna keep inquiring, like she needed some gossip to share with someone.

"Yes, we do."

"Oh, I see. It's amazing, right? Sleeping and waking up with the person you love... must be so nice; eating together, hanging always with him... Love is such a marvelous thing."

Millie pictured that image in her head; sleeping next to Finn, maybe hugging him and kissing him? What? It was unrealistic even in hypothetic scenarios.

"Yeah, totally." Millie whispered, trying her best to keep on smiling. But the fact she was just telling lies on lies made her feel guilty.

"What's the most beautiful thing Finn gave you?"

Millie suddenly looked at him and smiled, holding his hand again, while he was busy talking with Jacob.

"His love, perhaps." she said, emotionless, giving her a bitter smile.

Finn stopped talking with the other man for a fraction of second. He didn't expect it. Not from her.

Oh no, he heard me, she thought.

She couldn't do it.

"Excuse me, I have to use the restroom."

Jenna nodded and Millie got up from the table. She grabbed her Chanel purse, the one that Lilia bought her, and quickly escaped to the ladies toilet.

When she entered the room, she was fortunately alone, and she decided to wash her hands, removing the traces of his skin touching her; that boy was making her feel disgusting. One moment he was nice, like when he gently held her hand; one moment he was the most annoying piece of shit ever lived on planet earth; and, most of all, she never said so many lies in all her life.

Friends don't lie, kid.

But you lied. Finn keeps telling me to lie. I have to lie of what I feel about this whole situation, she thought, while staring at herself in the mirror. It was still weird seeing her hair just reaching her neck; but, she had to admit it, she looked so much better. She wasn't her mother anymore.
