➵After the pact was made, Millie and Finn both agreed that would have been their secret: they would have started with baby steps, in order to make Millie understand what was the best strategy to adopt for getting the VanderWaal girl back. First of all, she needed to get some information about her.
They were both sitting in front of the fireplace in a freezing afternoon of November; some days had passed and Millie was busy in writing her notes of English Literature while laying on the floor. Her boss was sat on his armchair, looking at her with an amused face: she was so multitask. How could she do two different things at the same time?
"So... you need to tell me something more about this Grace. How she is?" she asked, while biting the point of her pencil nervously.
"Well she is... pretty." he said nonchalantly.
Millie snorted, "Okay, uhm, I need more info than her being pretty."
Finn made a surprised face, "Such as?"
"God, Finn. Her attitude! Her personality! Her tastes!" she let out with frustration, while she kept writing her notes on her notebook.
"Well, she is... annoying. Superficial. She loves buying things and making people feel inferior."
"Oh, she reminds me of someone." Millie commented ironically. She just couldn't not say that, he basically handed it on a plate.
"Shut the hell up, maid." he groaned.
"No, I'm not a maid right now. My turn is over. My name's Millie. Your name is Finn. And I'm the girl who will help you to fall in love with Grace. So now, show me a little respect and maybe we can go on." she commented proudly, looking at him, in those beautiful and complicated dark eyes.
She was on the position of power in that moment. He needed her and he had to do what she said, in a way or another.
"Damn, fine. Just because I asked your help. And... you're really bossy. I like it." he said smirking and raising his eyebrows in a funny way. And Millie couldn't help but laugh.
"Stop it you. Anyways... okay. She is not the best of the best but do you know some particular things about her? Like, for example, I love drinking tea, Earl Grey with three sugar cubes. My best friend knows it and when he makes me some tea, he always remembers it. Do you know if she has a particular habit?"
Finn mumbled. Well, that shit was difficult. He never paid attention to such things, neither when they were in Bahamas the summer before, because, well, they were always busy in doing something else.
He snapped his fingers, "Oh yeah, I know one! She has a crazy obsession over purses or shit like that. She keeps changing those. And she likes red lipsticks."
"Well, then, get her a purse!" Millie said, shrugging. That was easier than she thought.
"I don't even know what types she likes."
"Well, I can't help you. I am not for brands and modern clothing in general." Millie mumbled. She really resent a girl for expensive clothes or fashion.
"Yeah, I noticed. You dress like a fucking grandma."
"Stop insulting me!"
