➵Today was the day.
It was the 20th of May, a date that was about to change history, their story, and nothing would have been the same.
A pure rush of adrenaline electrified both of their hearts in the right moment their eye lids opened: the storm hadn't ended yet, the rain was still hitting the glass of the French windows with a loud tap tap, and the wind was freezing for being almost summer... In a way, it was like their first meeting in the previous fall. Millie felt like a dying tree, back then; the falling multi-coloured leaves were meant to be forgotten once they would have reached the ground.
But now, oh no, she was not dying; she was just a girl that was about to get married with the best person she could have asked for.
There they were, laying next to each other on the canopy bed and caressing each other's peachy cheeks with complete devotion. His fingers traced a soft pattern on her face, making her melt and her lips part again; the embarrassment and the joy were too hard to contain. Her hand was sunk in his mop of ebony, curly hair, that day, a complete chaotic tangle. And even if they had come apart in a lovely and needed embrace the night before, and their limbs were still an intertwined muddle, Finn and Millie were unashamedly positive, and most of all, happy.
"I didn't remember how good was waking up with you everyday." Finn whispered, while his fingers still fondled her face with pure adoration.
"Hmm, guess you won't forget it for a very long time." Millie smiled shyly, as the mere touch of his fingers made her cheeks flushing pink.
"Today is the big day, uh? Excited?" His voice was still deep, sleepiness still very clear in his dark eyes.
But he didn't care; he knew Millie found him cute anyway, even when he was like that — a complete mess. She appreciated little moments like that; intimate chats and instants that made their love growing stronger, like a delicate flower you water and take care of everyday.
"Super excited. I still can't believe it." Millie laughed, trying to contain her emotion exploding in her heart.
Being in love was so beautiful.
"We are so unconventional, we didn't even have a bachelor and hen party." He pointed out, pulling her close with a fast movement of wrist.
"Uh, I don't really think we had time for that, you know." Millie giggled, shrugging.
"And going to a strip club and seeing other people getting naked is not my idea of party..."
Finn wiggled his eyebrows, "Can't really say the same."
Millie laughed, slapping the back of his head, "Such a pig you are!"
"I was kidding. You are the only girl I want to see naked. Satisfied?" He said, peppering her cheek with little kisses.
She nodded, "Yeah, more or less."
In all honesty, celebrating wasn't a big deal for her.
She would have done it just when they both would have left safe and sound, leaving everything behind – and that meant, Noah, her best friend, and her father, David.
And that was about to be so difficult. But the things we do for love are quite insane, sometimes.
Love makes you crazy.
"Millie, Millie, Millie..." He mumbled, smiling shyly.
"Yes?"
"You really deserved better than this mess. A boyfriend that your father doesn't hate. A boyfriend who didn't put you in danger..." Finn admitted with a feeble of voice, still mixed with sleepiness.
