Chapter 9 : The God Who Turned

//Camp Half Blood//
Percy's POV
I was waiting for the companions of my quest by Thalia's pine tree when I saw Chiron come up to me.
"Percy why did you choose Brendan? I think both of you don't get along well."
"I think that maybe going on a quest might decrease the tension between us." He shot me a glance before he walked down to supervise archery lessons. After five minutes both of them showed up.
We went to the van through which we were going to travel downtown. We began the journey and let me tell you being ADHD did not help the whole trip. I kept on pacing up and down while the others fidgeted with something.
Brendan had brought a sword though I doubted he could use it at all. Annabeth had her dagger like all times.
After a few minutes we got down the van and started journeying west. I knew where to go but I could not shadow travel all of them right now.
We walked and walked and got on to a bus. We sat down at the end when I saw three beautiful ladies come inside. I noticed them because of their canines. They were jutting out suggesting a mythical creature. I knew exactly what these were. Empousai. I whispered to Annabeth, "Empousai on the bus. We need to go now."
"How?"
"We'll have to wait it out. If they attack us we'll have no choice to fight them. No matter what the mortals see."
Brendan added to our conversation, "I think we could just jump out of the emergency exit."
"Real intelligent of you Brendan. I did not think about that. Of course I did! There's no emergency exit." I snapped back.
"We'll wait it out." Annabeth said.
We waited for about 10 minutes when they made their move.
All three of them at once shouted, "We need to go to the bathroom." As they neared our seat. I knew they were going to attack. I took out one of hunting knives and hid it behind my back. I could see Annabeth doing the same with her dagger. They lunged at Brendan and Annabeth. They shouted, "Where is it?" I took their ignorance as an advantage.
I drove my knife into the stomach of one empousai. The other two turned to me as one of their companions turned into dust. They were about to lunge at them when one of them turned to dust as well. I threw my knife straight into the head of the other one killing it effectively. Well that was nice. We got off the bus and realized that all of our supplied had been lost in the scuffle. Oh well. We couldn't do anything.
We walked on aimlessly when Brendan moaned, "Foood."
"I know Brendan. We don't have any food. No need to highlight it." I said
He didn't reply. He just pointed to a store in front of us.
'Antyu sE'm  mGone Epmoiurm' was written on the board.
Wait, damn dyslexia. I squinted for a while and realized that it was written Aunty Em's Gnome Emporium.
Both Brendan and Annabeth were drawn to the store. I didn't think that it was a monster because all they smelled was food,
How bad could it be?
We entered the emporium where we were greeted by many life like statues and a woman wearing glasses and a bandanna . I thought I heard a hissing noise. The woman said,
"Welcome to my gnome emporium. I provide shelter to lost kids and also most essentially food." I heard that hissing noise again. I decided that it was nothing and followed her to the living area. I stood there while the two of them went and sat down. The woman said, "Yes dear. Sit down. I'll give you some food and then we can take a lovely photograph of the three of you."
Strange whenever she spoke I heard a hissing noise. Was it some indicator? I decided to be cautious. She came with the food and we gobbled it down. She stood in front of us, "Now let's take a photo shall we?" Wait a minute. No camera. Taking off her sunglasses so we can see her. Her bandanna is down and I can see them writhing.
It's not hair their snakes. Who has snakes for hair and is a danger when we see into her eyes? A second later I realized it.
Medusa. "Close your eyes!" They listened to my advise and they shut their eyes.
"Medusa how's Poseidon?"
"Sea spawn I will kill you today." Oh right I forgot. I am having this conversation through a water wall. I can't see her eyes but I can her movements.
I took out Riptide. I didn't want her to know my heritage yet. I closed my eyes and used the water in her body to read her movements. Meanwhile Brendan had fainted when he saw Medusa. What an idiot. Annabeth was slashing wildly and I knew Medusa would go for her.
"Why have your revenge through the daughter of the person who turned you into this? Take your revenge through the son of the person who was the cause of your state."
She took my taunt and lunged at me. I dodged her.
As I was at a disadvantage I was on the defense. Duck, roll, parry and slash. This was what I had been doing since ages. Annabeth took her anger as advantage. She crept towards her and sliced her head off her body. I took of my jacket and covered the head. I wrote something that would have surely gotten me killed if I weren't protected by five gods.
To Poseidon and Athena
600th Floor, Empire State Building

"Percy I don't think that's a wise thing to do."
"Anna you already know that I hate Poseidon and Athena comes as an added bonus."
She nodded knowing that she will not be able to persuade me. We went to wake up Brendan. He woke up and said, "What were you doing?"
"We killed Medusa while you were sleeping dumbass." Annabeth said.
He huffed and exited the emporium. We got out of the emporium and sat down in the forest. It was quite pleasant actually sitting there. I got an idea. I went into the emporium and found some mortal money. This was exactly what I had hoped for. I went back to my companions.
"Well guys let's catch a train and have some dinner."
**Time Skip : After the train ride**
The train ride was extremely boring. Plus ADHD. It makes a normal train ride unbearable. I mean seriously? We went to a diner to have some food there. We entered and sat down on a table for three. When we sat down a punk guy came up on his very sexy bike and entered the diner. He walked straight to out table and sat down.
When I saw into his eyes I felt anger course through my body. I also saw some similarity between Clarissa and him. I realized who this was. Ares god of war.
"Hello Lord Ares what can we humble demigods do for you?"
"I like your style punk. Straightforward and bold. Nice. The person I'm looking to start a war." He muttered the last part under his breath but I heard him. I smirked. Now I knew exactly who betrayed the gods. But to whom? That was the main question.
"Last time I went with my girlfriend to a water park. We left some important things there. We need you to retrieve it."
"Aw, was wittle Ares scared of some wittle interruption." I said with a mocking tone.
His eyes flared with anger, "Watch it punk. I'm a god who can kick your ass within seconds."
"As if, I can defeat you." Brendan spoke. That idiot. It was exactly what he wanted. I did not accept it because I was intelligent unlike my half brother. Ares just smirked at him and before he vanished he said, "Take this backpack. It will help you. Your ride will be waiting when you return the things to me. It will take you Las Vegas."
"Thank you Lord Ares." Annabeth said before he vanished.
We went outside and went to the nearest water park. It was closed and abandoned. "No way to go inside. We'll have to disappoint Lord Ares." Brendan said. I just shadow travelled before the gates and opened it from the other direction. They came in and we went towards a ride. On the pillars small cupid statues were present under which I recognized a Greek letter. Eta. Weird. Brendan decided to stay above while me and Anna went down to grab a shield and a scarf. Probably magic. Annabeth grabbed the scarf and I grabbed the shield. It was when that idiot decided to trip and hit a button on the pillars. Instantly a screen and camera came up and spiders started coming from the pillars. Annabeth fell on to the ride due to her fears of spiders which activated the ride and camera. It said in a deep voice,
"Going live to Olympus in sixty, fifty nine, fifty eight."
Eta. Now it made sense. Hephaestus. It was a trap set by him to make a show of his wife and Ares.
"....forty."
I realized that we have less time. I turned around to see the gates blocked. We'll have to take the momentum of a moving ride and then I'll shadow travel. I hit the button for start ride. The ride started moving with fast pace. Anna shouted, "Jump when I say go." I knew she was going to get the timing wrong.
"No. When I say go." She nodded. At the last second I jumped and shadow travelled right above Brendan.
"Thank you for the show. Hope you enjoyed it." I shouted to the monitors and they went blank.
I held the shield tightly because now I was angry at a certain god of war.
//At the diner//
We met Ares and I said, "You knew it was a trap. That's why you sent us."
"Of course I did." I threw him the shield and scarf.
"Your ride is waiting outside." With that he vanished.
We went outside to see a zoo truck outside. We got in and saw a few animals inside. The animals were a zebra, a lion among others. I heard a voice in my head,
My lord please help us.
I was confused then I realized that the zebra had spoken. I guess it was a type of horse.
I will. Let us reach our destination.
As you wish my lord.
With that said I sat upright to watch if anyone came in while the other two slept. Honestly any hope that I had of Brendan improving were gone. He was too arrogant. Oh well. Let's focus on the task and return the bolt by summer solstice.

Yay! Chapter 9 is done.
Sorry for the sudden change.  But I decided that Luke will be bad.
