Chapter 22 : Skeles Ruin the Day

Percy's POV

We've been taking I don't know how many trains to escape those idiot skeletons. I mean who creates such skeletons. One day I hope I get to meet Chaos. I don't care how powerful he/she is I'm gonna give him/her a piece of my mind.

Anyways, we had just stopped and there was a homeless beggar who had created fire and was sitting there and playing the flute.

Zee decided to approach him, "Hello, kind sir, would you mind if we share your fire?"

The beggar looked at all of us with twinkling eyes, "Not at all I would love the company."

"Thank you, sir."

We all sat down and the beggar asked, "So where are you headed?"

We all looked at one another then I spoke up, "We're headed to San Francisco, and we don't know which train will be the fastest there. Do you know anything about that?"

"I sure do, the train that has just arrived will take you there the fastest." We looked around to see a train with the name ' Sun West Line '
at the station.

"Thank you, sir," Zee said to the homeless guy. I looked at him in the eye and saw a twinkle that I had seen in only two people in my life. Arty and Apollo.

My guess might just be off, but I had a gut feeling that it was Apollo. "You guys go on, I just need to talk to him for a moment."

All of them looked weirdly at me, "Just go on, I'll come." They went toward the train and I turned to the homeless guy.

" Hey, Apollo I thought that gods were forbidden from helping on quests."

"Who is this Apollo, you speak of?"

"Seriously? I've known you for many years, dude. I know it's you."

"The name's Apollo, Fred Apollo. "

I wanted to punch him there. I think he knew my intentions so he said, "Let's not lose our heads. Listen, Perce you're the only one I know that can rescue Artemis and even though the other gods might not like it I want to help my sister."

"I know you love your sister, I love her as well. I will do anything to save her."

Suddenly, I heard the exact sentence being repeated. "What was that?"

"Oh, that was just my voice recorder. A nice bargaining chip this will prove. I wonder how father will react to this?"

"You use that tape anywhere you want, but if you give that tape to Arty, I will kill you. Oh, and believe me when I say that I am dead serious."

When he heard that he became serious as well, "This train will take you where you want to go at the highest speed possible. Save my sister Percy, and seek out the help of Nereus."

"Who?"

"He is an old God of the Sea. Seek him out and he will help you out. But be careful you have to approach him cautiously."

"I will Apollo, I swear on the River Styx."

He was shocked but I ran to the train and saw that it was filled with cars. My friends had already taken some cars and were fast asleep. So, I chose a red Porsche in front of me to sleep in. I laid awake for a while then I drifted off to sleep.

** Time Skip **

I woke up at the first rays of the sun, we had reached our destination. It was a small town in New Mexico. We entered and saw various eating places. So, Grover, Thalia and Zee decided to go get some coffee while Bianca and I kept a lookout. Not 5 minutes passed by when I heard the rattle of bones. 

"Bianca, be ready the skeletons are coming."

"How do you know?"

"Well look behind you."

She turned around and saw a bunch of skeletons coming to ruin our day. Bianca brought out her sword while I brought out Deathnote. 

The skeletons surrounded us and they were about to start shooting when I thrust Deathnote into the body of a skeleton. It disintegrated on sight.

Bianca was shocked but when she parried a skeleton's bullet and stabbed it with her sword, it disintegrated as well.

"Well, it looks like only the children of Hades can kill them."

We fought the skeletons for a long time and I was starting to tire. Bianca was holding her own but not for long. Just outside the circle, I saw my friends fighting some of the soldiers. I was fighting quite hard killing skeletons left and right but they just kept on coming. Suddenly, beside me, Bianca collapsed. A soldier was about to shoot her, so I jumped in front of her, the bullet hit my back but nothing happened. 

I looked around and saw that the bullet was now just a flat disk. 

"It's the coat, the Nymean Lion skin, it's bulletproof," Thalia shouted.

Again while we were battling Grover collapsed. I cut a path through the soldiers and reached Grover. 

"Grover, what happened?"

"Pan..... I felt Pan's presence."

"Pan isn't here buddy. Right now, you have to get up."

"He's here, Percy, I can feel it."

"No, he's not....."

That's when I heard a cry worse than that of the Nymean Lion. I turned around and saw a giant flying pig. 

"It's Pan's blessing. It's come to save us." Grover bleated.

"Really? A pig? Wow, I mean Pan sure is an intelligent guy."

"It's a boar, Deathbreath." Thalia came up beside me. Zee came as well carrying Bianca. We all watched as the pig dismantled the skeletons.

"We have to get out of here on the boar. It's the only way," Zee said.

With that said, Grover started playing a tune and the pig came right at us. We climbed on to the pig and the pig flew away from those pesky skeletons. 

** Time Skip **

The pig dropped us at the start of the desert. I mean who does that? The only good thing was that there was a taco place right there. But as we went towards the shop, guess what? It was closed. I mean such good luck is available only to demigods.

After a while of resting, I remembered something. 'One shall be lost in the land without rain.'

A desert is a place without rain. I looked at my companions and saw that they all had realised the same thing. 

"Okay, let's go," I said.

We all got up and started walking towards the desert in grim moods, only one thing on our minds. Someone was going to die.

Hey guys, new year, a new chapter. Sorry, for being late again. A chapter will for sure not come again till 18 March. This was a short chapter but Junkyard of the Gods deserves a whole chapter to itself.

A new year also means time for a new story. I will be releasing the first chapter of 'In Plain Sight', a Friends and Percy Jackson Crossover. 'Darkness Everywhere' will be updated after 18 March. Check out my new story and hope you enjoyed.
