Two weeks.
Two weeks had gone by without any interference from demons– much less a frustrating blond one named Taehyung. As an angel, I was prone to feeling uneasy whenever I feel as if I've wronged someone, but this... this was complicated.
Taehyung was complicated.
Demons weren't supposed to show kindness. Demons weren't supposed to smile at you. Demons weren't supposed to linger on your mind for this long.
This was undoubtedly for the best though, that much I knew. I had studies and duties to worry about; a demon as friend would be an unnecessary distraction. Besides, if I became a Power, a friendship with Taehyung would be the very last thing I needed.
Imagine a Power being friends with a demon. I scoffed out loud at the thought.
"She's moping again."
"I've never seen her like this."
"We should do something. How am I supposed to spread joy and happiness with a brooding angel around."
"Can I help you guys?" I sighed, glancing over at the three huddled angels that stood right outside my room. They froze at my sudden outburst, as if they didn't know if I had heard them or not.
I had, of course.
"Y/N! Good afternoon! I brought you flowers!" Jimin sang, walking into my room.
The silver haired boy flashed me a sweet smile before extending his hand out to me, full of colorful flowers that were tied neatly together with a white ribbon. I eyed him carefully from my spot on my bed.
"The white ones are daisies, the pink ones are peonies and colorful purple ones are pansies!" Jimin informed me happily as I grabbed the arrangement of flora.
"These are 'get well' flowers." I stated grimly.
Jimin looked slightly taken aback but quickly covered up his momentary shock with a smile.
"No, they aren't. I just happened to grow them at the park today."
I sent a glare at him, "Jimin, I know what each of these flowers mean. I helped you study for your placement test. Daisies stand for cheerfulness and new beginnings. Peonies are for prosperity and good fortune, and Pansies literally mean that your sending loving thoughts my way."
Jimin's cheerful façade quickly dissipated and he sent a sad pout my way.
"Wow, look at you! So smart! Maybe you should be studying to become a flower angel instead of a Guardian." My third and final roommate, Hoseok, laughed nervously, entering my room.
Hoseok wasn't one for confrontations, he liked to keep things light and positive. He was the mood maker of the household and I could tell he was trying to distract me from their conversation that occurred outside my room just a minute ago.
"You guys–"
"Y/N. What's happened to you?" Namjoon's voice suddenly rang out. His tall frame stood underneath my door frame, arms crossed over his chest.
Namjoon was, without question, the head of the house. Hoseok technically held the position as the oldest, outliving Namjoon by a year, but Namjoon was the oldest in angel years as he had been one for far longer than any of us. He also outranked all of us with his Archangel status.
Hoseok was a lower level Third Sphere angel like Jimin and I. He was a peace angel, responsible for helping to heal strained friendships and family relationships.
I remember this one time when Hoseok and I had gone out to buy some groceries, when at the store a human child got separated with its mother. The little boy started to sob and hyperventilate, falling into a state of panic. I didn't so much as get to breathe before Hoseok rushed over to him, rubbing his back and whispering soothing words. The boy, of course, couldn't hear or feel Hoseok but just from his energy alone the panic passed and the boy calmed down. Hoseok then led the boy to the register where his mother was speaking to the manager frantically, demanding a search party be sent out for her lost child.
