The secretary was signing in a family when a very nervous-looking teenage boy walked in. His eyes were darting around the room, as if someone might jump out and attack him.
When he came up to the counter, she asked his name and purpose.
"Um, Sebastian, Sebastian Smythe. I'm here to see Kurt Hummel, please."
The name rung a distant bell in the secretary's head, but she just signed him in. Before he left, however, she couldn't resist asking.
"Um, do I know you from somewhere? I swear, your name rings a bell."
His eyes widened in panic. "No, no you probably don't know me. You're probably thinking of a Smith or something," he said quickly, leaving.
She frowned, swearing she'd heard his name before. Why was he so nervous?

Kurt looked up as the door to his room opened, smiling as he saw Sebastian walk in. "Wait, you look super nervous and worried. You didn't lose your memory again, did you?" he joked.
Sebastian laughed quietly. "No, it's just... I feel like a murderer visiting someone in a prison, you know? I should be here as a patient, but somehow I'm not."
"Um, Sebastian..." Kurt nodded his head to the side, and Sebastian looked over. A girl he hadn't seen before was sitting on the other bed in the room, and she waved upon seeing him.
"Shit," he said under his breath. "Um, can you ignore what I just said?"
"Easily. Nobody wants to be here, we just are. Let me take a random guess- abuse?"
His eyes widened. "What? Yes, but how do you know?"
"You act like the other patients here who have been abused. The way your eyes dart around, you identify the biggest threat in the room and keep your eyes trained on it. However, as soon as you're called out on it, your eyes become fixed on the ground. Also, you're favoring your left hip."
Sebastian had done exactly what she said, and blushed at having been called out on it.
"What? But your father left you alone a long time ago, why would your hip be injured?" Kurt asked, confused.
"Still healing, I guess," Sebastian said, shooting a look to the girl. She obviously knew he was lying, but Kurt didn't. Besides, Hunter wasn't abusive. He just... had a temper. Who he is shouldn't be defined by a few of his actions (even though he had hurt Sebastian a lot more than a few times).
The girl cleared her throat. "Anyway, I'm Marie."
"Sebastian, what aren't you telling me? Your back doesn't still hurt," Kurt pointed out. "Or your arms."
"Well, my arms or back weren't bruised. My hip is. Bruises would take longer to heal, especially bone bruises," Sebastian said in a reasonable tone, having no idea if that was true. It made sense, though.
Kurt clearly wasn't buying it. "You can tell me, you know."
"I'm fine. But how are you? How, exactly, did you end up here?"
Kurt rolled his eyes. "Finn and Blaine saw my arms and took me here. There's a suicide date on one of them, which they overreacted about."
"Y-"
Kurt cut Sebastian off before he even started. "No, you're not allowed to tell me not to. Of all the people, not you."
"Yeah, of all the people I'd know how big of a mistake it is. Without you, Kurt, I'd be dead. I don't know what I'd do if you died now. Stay alive, even if at first it's just for me."
Kurt sighed. "Fine. I don't think I really have a choice. Do you know where my phone is?"
"With the police." At Kurt's shocked look, Sebastian elaborated. "They're trying Karofsky again, they saw the messages. High chance he'll end up in jail again."
"One good thing to come out of this," Kurt muttered.
"You didn't die. You're getting help. Blaine knows and he still loves you. You don't have to worry about Blaine finding out now. I'd say that's more than one," Sebastian listed.
Kurt chuckled, and the door opened. Sebastian jumped, immediately whipping around.
The nurse-in-training who had just walked in laughed slightly. "Sorry about that. I'm Angelie." She shook Sebastian's hand, who was exceedingly nervous at the presence of another person, someone who could put him in a place like this.
Marie immediately perked up upon seeing her. "Hi, Angie!" she greeted, smiling.
Angelie smiled back at her. "Hey, Em. So you're her new roommate?" Her last sentence was directed at Kurt.
Sebastian would have laughed if he wasn't so on edge; was everyone who's name started with an M nicknamed 'Em'?
"Yeah, I'm Kurt."
Angelie had long, thin dark hair, the ends dyed blue. Her eyes were a dark brown, almost black. She had a splash of freckles across her nose and cheeks and she was wearing glasses. Looking between Marie and Angelie, Kurt could definitely tell Marie had a major crush on her. Her eyes were practically heart-shaped.
Sebastian cleared his throat nervously. "Um, I should probably get back to Dalton. I told Hunter I'd be back soon."
"Alright. Bye, Sebastian."
Sebastian was almost out the door when Angelie stopped him. "Wait, Sebastian? Like, Sebastian Smythe?" Her tone was unreadable.
Sebastian absolutely froze, not turning around. "Different Sebastian," he said quickly, rushing out the door.
Angelie looked after him. "That's why he was so nervous, isn't it?"
"Pretty much," Kurt said, knowing there was no way Sebastian would be back if they knew who he was. There's no way they wouldn't; there was one- giant- hospital in Westerville, he was a patient here when he attempted suicide.
