Time Passes By

Months had passed and Sonny's career took off. He was on the road a lot. I had tried to google as many videos from his shows as I could. I loved the music and the good vibes it brought. We actually talked more than I thought we would. Obviously not that much between his schedule and my work.

My favorite thing was he would send me songs he made via email. I absolutely loved that he wanted my opinion. One day I asked him why because I had no knowledge of the music business so I have no idea what he was really looking for but he said that the people listening to his music weren't worried about the logistics, just the finished product.

My new job was keeping me busy. It's not what I had really wanted to do but it was still a job that I was happy to have. I wanted to do planning and be talking to people and have creative freedom but here I felt confined. I didn't really directly talk to anyone.

Todd and Kristen have officially started dating. They were adorable together and I could tell he was falling for her hard. So obviously she spent a lot of time here which sometimes made me feel like the third wheel. I know they did everything to make me feel comfortable but it's hard to avoid.

I still went out with my girlfriends every time I had the chance so it's not like I was isolated but I felt like I was in a rutt. I was making good friends with a girl at my new job. Her name is Jackie but everyone calls her Jack. She was energetic and loved showing up for work which is probably why we clicked right off the bat.

I was meeting her for dinner tonight, which felt good not to have to crash the new couples meals at home.

I met her at this little restaurant outside of town and we talked about work and the usual drama there. We got on the topic of boys after she had pointed out an incredibly good looking man by the bar.

"You don't have a boyfriend or fiance or something, right?" She asked and I laughed at the fiance part.

"No, I don't."

"You're not talking to anyone? Come on! There has to be something happening in your love life!" I shrugged because there wasn't much going on at the moment.

"You're hiding something!" She pointed at me.

"I'm talking to this one guy but he's traveling for work so there's not much to tell."

"Oh! Business trip? What's he do?" She was rapid firing questions now.

"Uh, he DJs." I told her and I could see her facial expression change.

"Okay. I didn't know DJs traveled." She kind of snickered and I was somewhat offended.

"He's on tour." I said king of defensive.

"Musicians are dark and brooding I could work with that." I think she tried to lighten the air.

We continued on with dinner without any other issues and I went back home only to hear some noises I really didn't need to hear.

Sonny texted me just as I got home.

'You have some free time?'

I texted back, 'I do for you'

That dinner just made me feel lonely when I realized the funniest guy I was talking to wasn't here.

My phone was ringing a bit later and I stepped back outside to sit on the steps that led to our apartment.

"Hey."

"Thanks for making time for me." He laughed.

"For you, anything." I laughed back.

"How was work?" He asked.

"Slow today. How's being famous?"

"Stop it." He didn't like when I joked about him being famous. "I'm getting a lot more respect and downloads and recognition now though. It's all surreal. I've been trying to mix some new stuff but I figured I would take a little break and I wanted to talk to you so."

I smiled. "I'm glad that you're thinking of me."

"Always am." I couldn't stop smiling.

"How's the new stuff coming?" I ask because I'm genuinely curious.

"It's coming. I'll keep sending you things as I go."

"I really like whatever the latest one you've sent is. It's really catchy." I tell him.

"Yeah, I'm already working with Sirah to do the vocals on it. Should be a banger. How's Todd and his new girlfriend. What's her name again?"

"Kristen. And their good."

"What's wrong?" He asked and I was confused.

"What do you mean what's wrong?"

"Your whole voice just changed and you sighed."

How the hell did he notice that?

"Nothing is wrong. It's all good." I tell him and I can just see him rolling his eyes.

"Trouble in the casa?" He asked.

"No, no trouble. She's over here a lot though. I just see her moving in any day now." I told him.

"And that's a bad thing?"

"It's not a bad thing! It's just I'm third wheeling it over here."

We talked about Todd and Kristen and how he was thinking of maybe getting his own place but he still had a lot to pay off so he wanted to do that first. He mentioned he was going to be in LA again for a few days in about two weeks. I told him if he needed a place to stay that my bed was always open.

"Oh really?" He laughed and I realized how bad that sounded.

"You know what I meant!" I laugh.

"I may hit you up on that. Then you won't be the third wheel in your own home." I smiled.

"Can't wait."

We hung up later so he could keep working on his new tracks. I was beyond excited for Sonny to come stay with me even if it was only for a few days.

I was almost giddy I was so excited.
