"So what's the story of you and Mr. Sexy Coffee Shop Guy?" Jaz says excitedly as we walk through the building with the words Marian Hall; the English And Literature building.

"Oh my god, just saying that makes me uncomfortable." I chuckled.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, start talking!" She said eager to know.

"Well I was looking outside of my window at..." I stalled, remembering that the reason I was even outside the window was because I was eavesdropping on her argument, "at a group of girls giggling and shrieking obnoxiously outside the dorms; a bunch of sorority girls I presume."

Luckily, she believed my story and chuckled, "Your irrational hate towards us sorority girls amuses me."

"Whatever." I laughed and rolled my eyes at her, "Well, when I was outside of the window I saw him looking up and me and he started giving me that 'award winning player's smirk'. So I did what any girl with half a sense of dignity would do."

Jaz raised an eye brow, "Which was?"

"I slammed my window down hard to show him that I wasn't interested."

Jaz pressed the palm of her hand to her forehead and groaned, but then chuckled, "That's so Mel of you to do."

I playfully hit her arm and we both laughed together. "Well as my window was closing I heard him yell but I thought he was just trying to run his player moves on me." I said, "Yeahhh...turns out he was trying to warn me that my phone fell out of the window."

Jazmyne laughed uncontrollably and I nudged and pushed her, "Stoooppp, it's not funnyyy!"

"You have no idea how funny that is!" She said while wheezing with laughter.

After a few seconds I couldn't contain myself and I started laughing too. After our laughs started to die down I continued with the story, "After that I rushed out of the door, but as soon as I did, I ran into him and he had my phone. He gave me my phone back then shockingly informed me that he was my new roommate, and even proved it by opening the door with his key."

"Wow." She said, "I'm surprised they paired two of the opposite sex in the same dorm room, it must have been really last minute and there must have been no one left to pair him with."

"Yeah, the weird thing is that he wasn't supposed to be my roommate." I said, "A girl named Camellia was supposed to be my roommate, but apparently she went missing."

Jaz stiffened after I said that. It's a reaction she has whenever she hears about a person gone missing because of what happened to her little brother. A few years ago, in the middle of a random night, her brother had disappeared without a trace. After a few days of searching for him, they found his body alongside the freeway miles away from their home. Since then, the mere thought of a missing person makes Jaz freeze, and understandably so. I had never seen her stiffen this toughly though, like all of the life was sucked away from her. I guess it's because the anniversary of her brother's death is coming up.

"Oh." She finally uttered, stale and muzzled as she said it, then she cleared her voice to say it more clearly, "Oh."

"Um...I'm surprised we're still early for class." I say, trying to force the conversation into a different direction.

"Yeah." Jaz said as her muscles loosened slightly, yet still seeming tense, "Your eye candy didn't completely hold us up. She let out a chuckle and her muscles relaxed more and more until they were completely tension-free.

"Not my eye candy, but whatever." I say smiling, "Let's go get a good seat."
