XVIII

     I could barely sleep that night. After cleaning the gutted rat off of my bed and having to thoroughly clean my sheets repeatedly, I got ready for bed, but once I actually got into bed, I couldn't find a way to sleep. My head was spinning. If they wanted to separate me from Angelo then why was my door wedged too? Was that even the plan or was I supposed to die too? If that's so then why was the fire directed towards Angelo?

     But more importantly, is Angelo okay?

     It was weird without him in the room. Despite his playboy demeanor that he showed the most, he was also a big nerd. He watched nonstop anime and could talk about it all day. He would stay up all night just to binge watch all of his favorite anime shows. He would sing all of the theme songs, most of them in complete Japanese. Sometimes whenever I was stressed out from school, he'd pop some popcorn and we'd watch his anime shows. I didn't think I'd miss him watching and singing along this much.

     After a while of thinking about Angelo, I drifted off to sleep.

     The morning wasn't as bright as it usually is. Maybe it was because of last night's endeavors; Finding Camellia's body, being trapped in a fiery car, Angelo getting hurt, and getting another note from the person who's threatening me along with a gutted rat.

     I walked into Professor McBride's class and sat next to Jazmyne.

     "You don't look too great." She said.

     "Well hi to you too Jaz." I replied.

     "Sorry," she apologized, "but it's recognizable, did you get any sleep last night?"

     "Yeah." I lied, knowing I only got a few hours of sleep, "Plenty."

     "Okay now it's okay to say that you just randomly look like shit today." She said and then started laughing.

     I forced a chuckle, even though laughing was the last thing on my mind.

     I began to pay attention to Professor McBride as he was giving his lecture but soon my thoughts began to swirl around in my head again.

     I started to look around the room to push the thoughts away but only spurred up a new question.

     Where's Noki?

     She took this class but she wasn't here. I didn't have her number so I couldn't call or text her to see where she was.

     "I gotta go." I said to Jaz as I stood up and walked past her.

     "Where're you going?" She whispered loud enough for me to hear, but I ignored her. I kept walking.

     I got into my car and drove to the Beta house.

     I walked through the front doors and started up the stairs. As soon as I got to the top of stairs, I saw Noki walk into one of the rooms.

     I walked up to the door and pushed the wood of the door open, revealing Noki siting on the bed.

     "What are you doing here?" She asked sharply.
