I walked through the doors of the Beta Sorority House, or the Diamond Den as they like to call it. I walked into the front foyer and stopped in front of the stairs. What Jacob said last night made me think that if I joined the Betas I could get some clues on Camellia's disappearance.
No matter how bad I didn't like it.
Girls walked through the house; giggling, taking selfies, things of that nature.
Apparently I looked lost, since I kinda was, because a voice behind me said, "Need some help?"
I turned around to see a short girl with a polite smile on her face, showing two dimples on each cheek. Her face was round and her skin was pale and her hair was long and jet black. She wore a white button up shirt that had a black collar, a yellow flowy skirt that stopped halfway down her thighs, knee high socks, and yellow sneakers.
"Hi," She said, holding out a hand for me to shake, "I'm Noki."
"Hi," I said, shaking her hand, "I'm Melena. I'm looking for Carmen."
"She's in her room right now. I'll see if she's open to see people at the moment." Noki said and then jogged up the stairs.
Five minutes passed and I saw Noki jog back down the stairs, her hair and skirt bouncing as she stomped on each step. Then she walked up to me.
"She's available," She said with a smile, "I'll take you up there."
She waved me to follow her and we began going up the stairs. I jogged as well in order to keep up with Noki's quick pace. Once we got up to the last step, I saw even more girls than there were downstairs, even though they didn't acknowledge or seem to even notice my presence. Some of the girls were wrapped in towels, some doing their hair, some picking out outfits to wear.
"Sorry for the ladies' presence at the moment," Noki apologized as she kept walking, "everyone's getting ready for the frat party tonight. The Alphas throw the biggest parties on this campus and the Betas always have to make an appearance!"
Predictable.
Once we reached the end of one of the halls, we stopped in front of an all pink door, unlike the other plain white doors.
Yup, this has to be her room.
Noki knocked on the door then cracked it enough to stick the top of her body inside the room, "Carmen, I have Melena here to see you."
"Send her in." I heard Carmen's voice from the room.
Noki opened the door wider and I could see Carmen sitting on a clear glass spinning chair with white fluff on the back and seat of the chair in front of a large mirror vanity with sphere shaped lights around the border. She wore a pink fluffy robe and pink fluffy slippers to match it. Her hair was spiraled and pinned up to hold the shape until she was ready to take them down. She was leaned into the mirror as she did her makeup.
I walked in past Noki and after I had got into the room enough, she walked back out of the door frame and closed the door, leaving me and Carmen alone in the room.
"So," She started to speak while not even turning to look me in the face, but I could see the smug grin on her face in the mirror, "you came to beg for a spot in the Betas? I knew you'd come soon."
How can a person be so damn egotistical and narcissistic and any other word synonymous to those words?
"I came to apologize." I spat out as calm and sincere as I could. The words were like bile to me. I had no reason to apologize to her. But I had to. I need to start looking for clues. And this is the only place that I could think to start at.
