I walked into the dorms feeling awful. After my adrenaline left, my body suffered the aftermath of the cuts and bruises. At least I didn't have to explain it to Angelo.

"What happened to you?!" Angelo exclaimed as soon as I walked in the door.

"Geez, I'm not pretty?" I replied sarcastically as I walked past him and sat on my bed.

"Where were you?" He ignored my sarcasm.

     "I went to get milk."

He rolled his eyes and gave me a "stop the bullshit" look, "Oh really? Where's the milk?"

"I drank it all on the way here." I said trying to hold back a laugh but let chuckles out anyway.

"This isn't funny Mel! I was waiting for you to get back all night and you walk in at 4 o'clock in the morning covered in cuts and bruises!" He said sounding exhausted.

"Why?" I asked, sobering up, "I can take care of myself."

"I don't want something to happen to you." He said.

     "I'm fine."

     "You're not."

     "Yes I am."

     "You have bruises."

     "I fell."

     "Into what? A metal fist?"

I groaned, "Its been a long night, I don't want to be lectured." I did not feel like listening to this. I just wanted to go to sleep after the night that I had.

He lowered his head and then picked it back up, meeting my eyes again, "Just let me help you. At least tell me where you were."

I was about to tell him about where I was until I remembered something from tonight. The pictures. His pictures. I can't tell him. Not until I can understand what that was about.

"I fell down a hill in the woods. I thought I could find a shortcut but I didn't. I ended up having to find a way out of the woods. That's why it took me so long." It was a pretty believable lie. There were hills in the woods.  And I would be the type to try to find a shortcut in a large woods area.

     Okay,

     not really.

He scanned my face to try and catch the lie but he couldn't find it. His face hardened, "Don't do that again."

I didn't answer. I only stared back at him. I didn't know if I was gonna have to go back in the woods or not.

But by what it seemed, it was likely so.

Literature class went on as usual: Professor McBride gives his lecture, gives us notes to write, then gives us a ton of homework. After class I saw a familiar face. It was Noki.

She was walking out through a crowd of people but she looked back to wave at one of her friends. She had her keychain in the hand that she was waving in. She had her car key on it and a couple of other keys on it. For decoration she had a sheet of purple leather with a decorative 'N' embroidered into it.

     Wait...

     a fancy 'N'.

I speed walked out of the class, not wanting to bring attention to myself but going fast enough to catch up.
