The next morning I woke up with Angelo's arms wrapped around me, one hand resting on my back and the other hand, with its fingers weaved through my hair, pressing my head close to his chest. My arms were cuddled up and pressed against my chest in between the both of us. It was weird waking up this way. Of course because last night before I went to sleep he had gone to his side of the room and laid on his own bed. But also because I didn't have a problem with it.
I felt Angelo move as he began to wake up. I turned to look at him and he spoke before I could say anything, "I didn't do anything."
"What? I didn't say you did." I replied.
"Well that's surprising since you're always accusing me of being a quote unquote 'weirdo rapist'." He said, emphasizing with air quotations.
I rolled my eyes, "Well why are you here anyway?"
"You had a bad dream." He answered, "You were screaming out Noki's name and when I got over here to comfort you, you were shaking with fear."
"Oh." Was all I could say. I remember having a dream about Noki and trying to save her. We didn't even have a close relationship but for some reason, I felt terrible. Maybe because of my gut feeling that her "suicide" was much deeper.
And the fact that her murderer could possibly be my secret harasser and Noki's fate could be mines.
Did I say "could possibly be"?
I meant to say most definitely is.
Angelo's grip around me loosened and he got up from the bed, "I'm gonna go take a shower now."
I could only nod my head in response.
I didn't have a class today, so I decided to go hang out with Jazmyne for the day. Of course Angelo didn't think it was a good idea and told me to stay home. I told him I would and he made me promise, but knowing me...
What's a promise?
Angelo did have classes today so he wouldn't be in the dorm anyway. Plus it's just Chinese food and movies with Jazmyne. I'm pretty sure that's not anything to panic and call the cops about, Angelo.
The bathroom door opened, releasing a small spew of fog into the room as Angelo followed in behind it. He had nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist. His hair was drenched, letting drops of water spiral down his back. He looked at me with his award-winning grin, "What's on your mind, Mel?"
A chill glided through my body, but I don't think he noticed. "Nothing." I quickly retorted, "Just ready to have the dorm to myself."
He chuckled, "Sure. Well what are you gonna do on your day off?"
I couldn't tell him any of my plans because even the smallest thing like hanging out with my best friend would send him into overprotective mama bear mode.
"Studying." I simply answered.
His grin wiped away, "Is anyone coming to study with you?"
"No, it's just me." I rolled my eyes to discredit the assumptions towards my lies.
"Good." He said in a stern voice, "Don't invite anyone over, don't leave to meet with someone, don't answer the door, don't—"
"Okay mom I get it." I joked as he walked into the closet to get dressed. I understood the fact that he was a bit skeptical of things, seeing as we had been in a freak accident, almost died, I'm being threatened (well I'm pretty sure he doesn't know about that but I'll add it onto the list), and someone that he knew is dead.
