"Why are you holding your wrist?" Angelo asked as I walked into the room.
"I fell." I simply said. Technically not a lie. I did fall. I just didn't tell him that it was two stories down in a death trap elevator by someone who's trying to sabotage me.
He rolled his eyes but didn't object to my story. He grabbed me by my good wrist and pulled me out of the door.
"Where are you taking me now, kidnapper?" I said sarcastically.
"Shut up, we're going to the hospital." He said.
"Why?" I said.
"Because your wrist's broken."
"No it's not!"
"Okay, if it's okay then move it in a circular motion."
"...I don't want to."
He rolled his eyes and continued to drag me to the elevator.
Wait...
He was gonna see the note!
"Wait!" I protested, "I'm fine! You don't have to take me to the hospital!"
I stationed myself on the floor but that didn't do a difference. He kept on dragging me and then when he got tired of pulling me like a three year old who didn't get to get the toy they wanted at toys r us, he flung me over his shoulder and proceeded on. He pressed the button and walked into the elevator.
"Angelo wait!" I yelled but he didn't listen. He put me down next to him and we stood there as the doors closed.
I watched the door as it slowly closed but the sheet of paper was no longer there. I stood there and stared at the bare metal door as the elevator lowered down at its normal speed.
The elevator stopped in the lobby and he started back pulling me by my good wrist. Surprisingly he didn't throw me back over his shoulders. We went through the door and started towards the parking lot. We walked up to his car and he put me in the passenger seat and closed the door behind me. He got into the driver seat, started the car, and started to drive but all I could think of was whether or not the message for me in the basement was still there.
I got lost in my thoughts and before I knew it we were in the parking lot of the hospital. I reached for the handle as soon as he put the car in park.
"Stop." Angelo said while not even making eye contact with me, he kept his eyes straight forward still, "Are you gonna tell me what really happened now?"
"I already did. I fell." I stuck by my story.
"Well then what the hell happened in the elevator?"
What the hell?! How'd he know?
"What do you mean?" I played innocent.
"When I was dragging you to the elevator you went crazy and resisted but after we got off the elevator you didn't care about going to the hospital. You weren't even paying attention in the car on the way here. Something happened in the elevator and I wanna know what."
I hesitated for a while. Angelo was observant, even though I hadn't really hidden it. I guess I wasn't paying attention at the time.
Finally I answered, "The elevator malfunctioned and I fell two floors. I guess it messed up for a little bit and a maintenance person fixed it." I left out the threats because he was still in those pictures so I couldn't tell him any information.
