Chapter 20: A Truth

" Nice place." I walked into Jaelyn's house and was surprised to find it looked like an actual family home. Big comfy couches in the living room sectioned around a huge flat screen tv, encased by warm toned blue walls. Mind you, this was all I could see from the front door, and I do mean the actual doorway.

" Step in and shut the door. Ya know, stay a while." Jaelyn flashed a smile over his shoulder at me as he bent down to take off his shoes and walked further into the house. I did as he said and came fully into the house, slipping off my shoes as I went.

" You live here alone?"

" Yeah, just me." Jaelyn threw his answer to me from the end of the hallway as he entered what I assumed to be the kitchen, I followed behind him.

" The fuck you need this big ass kitchen for?" I mean it was huge, spotless, and well put together; I was waiting for a girlfriend to pop out and take credit for the decorating honestly.

" I do need to eat ya know, I do cook. Matter fact, you hungry?"

" Well since my dinner plans were ruined, I actually am starving."

" You got Hakim to blame for that Ab, not me."

" Yea, but you're the one here, not him. Soooo your currently the stand in." I sat down at a chair positioned on one side of the island while Jaelyn pulled contents out of the fridge and set them next to the stovetop on the opposite side.

" Smart ass. But aye look there's some things we need to talk about tonight. First off, what happened at the Papi store before I got there?" I ran down the short version of what went down and when I looked up Jaelyn was throwing pasta into a pot, his face read that he was deep in thought.

" I'm still tryna figure out who this other brother he was referring to is." I had one brother, one male sibling, there was no other.

" Ab, what I'm bout to tell you might freak you out but it has to be said ok?" His hands were on the side of my face now as I looked for a clue as to what was to be said.

" Jay, say it, whatever it is, tell me. I can't sit in the dark anymore, I can't!" I felt tears brewing and I had no idea why, but they were running down my face hot anyway.

" I'm your brother, your adopted brother." The fuck
