I know I haven't updated in a while...
Two months later
" You ready to walk across that stage?"
" In three months, fuck yeah! You ready to bend that knee?" I countered his question with a question as I bent over to tie my sneakers.
" You already know the answer to that good and well. Move chump, I got it." He bent on his knee so that he could lace up my sneakers, apparently I was taking too long.
" Keep calling me a chump bro." I smiled down at him playfully as he finished intertwining the strings, grabbing ahold of my hips as he stood up. I threw my arms around his neck and abolished the space between our bodies.
" That smart ass shit gon get you fucked up." He bit his lip and stared down at me.
" How you know that's not what I was betting on?"
" Ya freak ass." He laughed and kissed my lips before pulling away and sitting on the bed to put his own sneakers on.
" Ya phone." He pointed to the vibrating device on the bed that Jay had given me as a Christmas gift as it alerted that someone was calling.
" To what do I owe this phone call this morning sister?"
" I could murder right now lil girl don't test me, I don't feel like driving and I need some pork rinds."
" Ewww sis, no. Pick something else."
"Abla Jamieson Ever, it wasn't a request." Jaz hung up and I counted to ten as I reminded myself of how vicious her pregnancy hormones were.
" That shit gets funnier each time, I swear." Rah looked at me with simple love and eager laughter as I nodded my head in affirmation. If Jaz's behavior during pregnancy was any indication, I would likely commit at least one murder before my first child was born.
" Pork rinds..she asked for nasty ass pork rinds." I shook my head at the thought, I really didn't wanna bring her that.
" Now if you show up without them she's likely to throw something at you, you know she got an arm on her."
I pouted heavily, " I just wanted to run some errands before I went over there, I wasn't even gonna tell her I was coming so she wouldn't ask for nothing. Now she wants me to come right this second." I collapsed on the bed and threw my arms over my head in defeat. I loved my sister, but pregnancy was a whole other beast on her.
" What you had to do?"
" I was gonna go by the mall and pick us up some winter clothes, cuz these temperatures are killing us. I mean ya long johns are hanging on by a literal thread and mines aren't too far behind. Then I was gonna go grocery shopping. I haven't really made a full meal in this place yet, I wanted it to largely be a you and me day." We'd moved into a new place together at the end of January and were now only two weeks into enjoying our new abode. Although our place was farther removed from the safety of my old neighborhood and the closeness of Pap, it was a new beginning for us as a couple, something we sorely needed.
I felt his depression on the bed as he sat next to me. " See, I was gonna ride with you with whatever you had planned, but check this out, I got a solution. You call up Jay and ya'll go chill with Jaz and we'll meet back here tonight, grocery and clothes shopping done." He was proud of his ability to come up with a solution to my problems so quickly and I smiled at his childlike need for validation on a job well done. It was beyond certainty that I'd fallen into a love I couldn't get out of even if I tried, it was a happy place to say the least.
