" Ah, the fuck, ah. You didn't clear this ring shit with me bro." Jaelyn held up my right hand and inspected the ring I'd placed on my middle finger.
" It's a promise ring Jay, I'm not engaged...yet. Plus, it's on the wrong hand and finger dumbass." I snatched my hand back as we proceeded further into Jaz's house.
" You wanna die."
" Hmmm, it's an option."
" Keep fucking playing with me little girl." Jaelyn growled as he tired to act like I was supposed to be scared of his ass.
" Mind you, he's doing all this shit talking like he not the one who was on Facetime with me when I bought it." Rah dropped that little nugget of information and I hopped right on Jaelyn.
" OOOOOOOOOO, so we hypocrites now bruh? Nah, ima drag this jawn out nice and long. Gon try and come at me like you wasn't apart of the plan. Ya ole buddy buddy ass with MY man and shit." I clowned him as we all went to take our coats and shoes off, I wasn't for that whole not being comfortable in my family's house thing.
" Damn man, can't hold water huh?" Jaelyn sucked his teeth and looked back at Rah as he slipped off his sneakers and hung his coat in the hall closet.
" From her", Rah pointed at me, " Nah, that's dead."
" And that's why you my baby." I smiled brightly and puckered my lips for Rah to kiss them, he obliged me happily.
" All the PDA!" Jaelyn slipped in between our frames as he mimicked pushing us apart, he was officially too enthused by his now recognized role as a brother.
" Ya'll are the definition of true black people. We were supposed to eat a hour ago dickheads, I'm hungry." Jaz rounded the corner and looked us all up and down.
" Correction, hangry sis. Hangry is what you are." Jaelyn kissed her on the cheek before walking past her into the dining room.
" Don't touch shit in my kitchen since you wanna be a smart ass Jay!"
" Do yams count?" He peeked back behind the corner with a spoonful of yams before shoving them in his mouth.
" Ima knock ya ass flat, keep playing with me." Seems their sibling bonding was right on track.
" Sure she not pregnant?" Rah whispered in my ear, " Look, that's what I'm tryna say." Was the response I imparted to him.
" See, I hear all this little whisper shit ya'll talking bout my womb and what not, but I'm too fucking hu- Hold the fuck up. Is that a ring!" She was now holding my hand up inspecting it like she was a whole jeweler.
" Jay, you seen this shit? Trey, come ere'."
" Just broadcast it."
" Yup, I will." Trey came into the living room with baby James in his arms. I tried to grab my nephew from his arms but he wasn't having it.
" Gimmie my fat boy."
" Nope, lemme see ya hand then we'll see." Petty ass.
" It's a ring damn, a promise ring!" I held my hand in his face so he could see, " Now can I have him?"
" Ooooooo, that jawn nice too. I see you Rah, that ain't the one I said I liked though." He slick laid the baby in my arms before turning away.
" So all the guys knew?"
" Yup." They all answered nonchalantly from their places in both the living and dining room, they were way too buddy buddy for their own good.
Minutes later we were all at the table about to dig in to the spread Jaz had prepared.
