*MARINAS POV*
I left Lana in bed sleeping while I went out to buy some breakfast for us. Even though we stayed up until four in the morning, getting drunk and fooling around, I couldn't fall back asleep once I woke up. So now here I am at 7 in the morning wandering the streets with a pounding headache, searching for good food.
The morning ocean breeze felt amazing against my clammy skin. I could definantly feel the effects of my hang over. I'm thankful for the empty streets so that no one will see a wild looking girl walking around who reeks of alcohol. They would probably think I had a wild night of partying and whoring around when in reality I had the best night of my life with the most amazing girl.
*The Night Before*
"Mariiiiinnaa, come on" I slur, pulling at her arm, trying to lead her to the bed.
"Lana, dance with me!" Marina pulls away, trying to to find her iPod amongst the papers on the coffee table.
"FOUND IT" she stumbles over to the stereo and plugs it in.
Upbeat rock music begins blaring from the speakers. Marina closes her eyes, soaking in the music.
She begins moving with the music, swaying her hips and swinging her arms around. Even with her stumbles and erratic movements she somehow manages to look like a beautiful bird with a broken wing attempting to fly.
I begin laughing erratically at her. She looks up and smiles. "What's so funny Lana?"
"You're just so beautiful, even when you look ridiculous." I walk over to her and place a soft kiss on her nose. I place my hands on her hips and begin swaying to the rhythm of the guitar and drums. Our bodies grind together with occasional stumbles and giggles.
--
"Hey Marina!" A familiar voice calls out to me.
I turn and see Ian jogging across the street to reach to me. I let go of the restaurant door and let it close, bothered that he's interrupting my breakfast conquest.
"Hey Ian" I fake smile. "How's it going?"
"I haven't seen you in so long Marina!" He wraps his arms around me and I just stiffly stand there. Why is he so excited? After our last argument at the supermarket I didn't say a word to him. We bought the groceries, went back to my house, and he left. No words spoken.
"Yeah...it's been ages..." Ian releases me and gleams down at me.
"Well how's Lana?" He asks.
I internally smile at the thought of her. "She's great. Chris is in jail awaiting trial. So everything is over with him."
"The fucker got what he deserves." He says.
"Yeah he did." I laugh.
"Listen, Marina. Um I wanted to ask you something.." I nod for him to continue. "Well you said that you didn't know how you could repay me for helping you. Well you can by hanging out with me."
"You know when people say that they don't know how to repay someone it usually means that the person they said it to expects nothing." I announce.
"Yeah well I'm taking this chance." He smiles.
I glare at him. "Ian is this some fucking plan to try to get with me or something? Because I am not interested."
"No no no no no, it's just everything feels so open. Just some closure." He puts his hands up as if to show there's nothing hidden behind it.
"Why are you bringing up the past Ian? I'm over it. I got over everything so please." I practically beg.
"Marina no I promise it's not like how you think it is!"
I turn to leave. "No Ian" I say as I open the door to the restaurant.
"SO YOU'RE JUST GONNA WALK AWAY?" He tells after me.
I stop. Goddammit.
I turn back and stick one finger into his chest. "I swear to god Ian, if you pull any shit I will personally slash your tires." I growl then stalk away.
