Chris and I make our way back to the motel. He was surprisingly being very nice with me today, much like how he was when we first started dating. He was joking around and saying kind things. However, I knew that meant he wanted more from me when we were alone. There are always strings attached.
I could tell that his presence angered Marina, she wouldn't even lay eyes on him. I knew if she could she would tie rocks to his ankles and throw him into the sea. The thought is almost comical, Chris begging for the mercy he never gives me. Marina would gladly take pleasure in taking the honor of throwing him overboard. I can imagine her with a wicked smile pushing him in, then he'll rot in Hell while Marina and I live happily.
Marina was being so childish at the beach, having so much fun throwing shells at me. Her laughter was contagious and I couldn't help but get lost in our little games and forget about Chris. I don't even understand what it is that attracts me to her so much. She's so protective of me but in the purest way. A way where I know I'll be happy spending the rest of my days with her, she'll give the love I've never had.
"Who was that girl at the beach?" He says interrupting my daydream.
"What girl?" I blankly ask, trying not to show my sudden panic.
"The dark haired girl, she was like the only other person there. You kept staring at her." How did he notice that? I'm surprised he looks at my face sometimes and not just my body.
"Oh that girl! Yeah, yeah....she looked familiar but that's impossible that I knew her.....you know cause we are in Australia....not New York...." I'm a shit liar.
We arrive at the room and Chris grabs my arm turning me around to face him. "You're lying. Who is she?" He demands.
"Chris how the fuck would I know her?" I snap. "We are in a different continent."
He narrows his eyes at me then slowly unlocks the room. "Get your ass in there Lana. I told you not to give me attitude."
"What do you mean attitude? You're doubting me Chris."
"Don't fucking back talk" he shoves me into the room making me fall to the ground.
"GET THE FUCK UP" he yells standing over me.
"Chris please" I calmly say "Chris don't do this"
Chris stares down at me, his eyes seemingly fueled by evil. He cocks his leg back, building up strength, and brings it hard to my ribs. The pain hits me, spreading across my body. I scream out as loud as I can, my vocal chords straining to produce the noise. I know it'll be worse if I scream but I have to let people know what's going on now.
*MARINA'S POV*
I unlock the locks on my door, entering my dark room. It feels even more lonely after last night. It was the first time I've shared my bed with someone else since Ian, I forget how amazing it was to simply sleep with another person. Sharing the vulnerability and innocence of sleep with someone, entrusting them with yourself wholely.
I change into shorts and one of my cut up tees then relax into the couch. The remote to the television is on the coffee table but I'm too lazy to make the effort to simply lean forward and grab it.
I miss her
I miss her
I miss her
I can't stop thinking those three words. Lana took the fullness she gave me with her, leaving me empty and hollow. She makes me feel like I'm overflowing and I have to give her my everything. Now I'm just a dry desert.
I actually felt jealous of Chris. Even though I know I don't want to be like that monster, I was jealous that she gave herself to him. At the beginning I know their love was beautiful, But he took advantage of that. I just want that chance. I need her fill me, it's selfish really but I'll give my everything back.
My eyes were slowly getting heavier and heavier, sleep slowly taking over my body. But I jumped when suddenly a scream reached my ears.
Even though I've never heard that noise come out of her I knew.
I jump to my feet reaching the window in a flash. I scan the street until I see the motel. Her room door, visible from my window, was wide open. I could see movement, Chris was standing over something.
Oh shit.
I speed down the stairs not caring that I left my door unlocked. I burst through the glass doors of my store. I could feel every rock on the bottom of my bare feet but i ignore it, trying to go faster and faster. I see room 13G grow bigger and bigger. The room is dark but the sunlight reveals what I hoped was not true. I could see Chris kicking at Lana's small body.
"NO STOP NO!" I yell at the top of my lungs. I keep screaming as I run but he doesn't react. It's as if he's on autopilot now.
My heart plummets into my stomach. I see him pull his fists back over and over again. I finally reach the door and Chris has Lana's hair in his fist holding her as he hits her face countless times. Lana's bruised eyes look up at me and widen in surprise. But before she can open her mouth Chris throws releases her hair and bends down to pick her up.
I search the room and spot a ceramic lamp on the table next to the door. I snatch it and rip the cable out if the wall as I stalk over to Chris. Before he can stand up straight and smash it over his head with a loud thud, breaking the it into thousands of pieces.
Chris stumbles over to the bed trying to regain himself. I kneel next to Lana and all I see is crimson all over her face. Her breathing is uneven and she is barely holding onto consciousness.
"Lana, I'm here okay." I whisper holding her swollen face in my hands. Her eyes soften but I see her look at something behind me. I turn just in time for Chris so grab my shirt and drag me near the door.
"MARINA NO! MARINA LEAVE GET AWAY!" Lana shouts at the top of her lungs.
I kick and scream and try clawing at his fists that are holding onto my shirt but it's all in vain. He lifts my whole body off of the ground and shoves me into the door with his hands on both of my arms.
"You'll fucking pay" he growls. "You'll regret-" I cut him off by spitting at his face.
It doesn't faze him. He still has his hold on me. I watch him pull his blood stained fist back. I close my eyes as he punches my cheek. My vision goes black.
I could barely make out the words he says. "You lied to me you bitch" he squeezes my arms tighter. "WHO IS SHE!" He yells. He slams my body back against the door then releases his hold, letting my body drop to the ground.
I try opening my eyes but all I saw were stars. But I hear Lana screaming for me to run away but it's cut off by more hits from Chris.
I need to listen to Lana.
I can't stop Chris. But I know who can.
My vision becomes clear. I stumble out of the motel room and into the street. Then I run.
My lungs burn and I can't seem to get ahold of my breath but I don't stop. I run for what seems like an eternity but in reality everything is just slowed down.
I don't stop till I see the house come into view. The familiar car in the familiar driveway and the familiar porch where I lost a certain familiar boy.
I run up the steps and pound on the door. I don't stop till I hear the lock clicking. The door slowly opens to reveal exactly who I needed.
"Marina...?" He drags out each syllable in my name.
I breath hard trying to catch my breath. "Ian.....I...I need your help"
