"There is no need to get physical sweetie." Leigh smirks, knowing exactly what she has done.
"I said you could come over here and talk to him, not shoot a romantic movie scene over here!" I defend my actions.
"I thought you said he wasn't your boyfriend?" She asks. "It sure seems like you didn't like what you saw."
"I didn't like what I saw because hes not some jungle gym for you to hang off of."
"What is going on here?" Logan asks, looking back and forth between the two of us.
"We are leavin-" I begin.
"What's going on here is that Avery is trying to start a fight that she cant finish and she knows it."
"I'm not trying to start any fights. I just don't want you climbing all over him."
"Oh you mean like this?" She asks, making her way to Logan.
I insert myself between them as she goes to reach for him.
"Paws off, bitch." I turn around and grab onto Logan's hand, eagerly trying to get him to take me home.
"Avery-" I turn around and see Leigh's tomato red face. She drops her pompoms. They unsettle the dirt beneath them, causing a little puff of dirt to fly into the air.
"Guys?" Logan asks tentatively, unsure about what is happening. Leigh takes one step forward before taking off into a full sprint and tackling me to the ground. The back of my head slams into the hard, packed dirt beneath the bleachers.
"Hey!" Logan shouts.
On top of me, Leigh raises her fist high into the air, preparing herself to smash it into my face. Logan catches it before she is able to. Lucky for her, she has another fist. She quickly lifts it and attacks my eye with it.
I am lucky that she only has her fists right now. If she had a weapon or something else she could use to her advantage, I would be totally screwed.
"Stop it!" Logan continues shouting for us to stop. So far, he has been unsuccessful at making either one of us stop or to pull us off of each other.
I lift my head as Leigh takes a moment to catch her breath. She notices me and claws at my face, forcing my head back down to the ground. I grab onto her long brown hair hanging in my face and tug on it, bringing her face very close to mine. I poke her in the eye. I continue pulling on her hair, hoping it will ease up on her grip on my throat.
She is leaning on my neck, sinking her nails in. I cant breathe. I begin to panic. Logan has still been unsuccessful in getting her off of me. She is hanging on tight. She apparently has a lot of anger pent up in that little body of hers.
He really is trying to help me though.
In a last ditch effort to get her off of me, I buck my hips forward, causing her to roll over me, smashing her own head into the dirt.
Thank god.
I flip myself and see her laying faced down in the dirt. Blood trickles from the top of her head. I begin to crawl over to her. Have I really hurt her that badly? I was just trying to get her off of me.
Before I have the chance to do anything, Logan grabs onto me. He lifts me off of the ground right as Leigh is about to take another swing.
"Break it up over here! Come on Ladies!" the Football coach rushes over and helps Leigh off the ground. "Principal Devy's office now. Both of you!"
After Logan dragged me and coach dragged Leigh, we both stand in the principal's office ten feet apart from one another to receive our punishments. Logan and the coach wait outside.
"Leigh, I'm letting you off with a warning. Don't let me catch you doing anything like this again or I'll have you benched." Leigh nods and the principal's request. "And Avery, I am giving you a one week suspension."
"What!" I express my frustration with that. "I didn't even hit her! She was the one choking me!"
"Unfortunately, I have a whole squad of cheerleaders telling me what they saw you do. They all say they saw you attacking her and that she was just defending herself from you. My ruling stands. Effective immediately."
I shake my head as we are dismissed. This is unbelievable. I locate Logan leaning on a tree beside the school and make my way over to him.
Leigh jumps out of nowhere and blocks my path. "I told you I have the ability to make your life a living Hell Avery." She smiles. "This was only the beginning."
