Thirty Eight

Peter walks into my bedroom after Hillary's father and my dad broke the news to the kids. He stands in the doorway and stares at me. He opens his mouth and closes it after he finds that he is able to make no audible noise come out.

His eyes are sad and confused. He doesn't understand. I don't think any of us really do. He probably feels very alone right now. We all need to help make sure that he knows he is not.

Everyone need to know that they are not alone right now and never will be alone either. We are all here for each other. Forever.

"Can-" Peter opens his arms hesitantly.

"Come here." I say and stand off the bed, opening my arms to hold him. He comes in and throws himself into my arms, so hard that he knocks me backwards a few steps. Peter cries.

I hug him. Tight. As tight as I can. I wish I could hold him even tighter. I grab onto his head with one hand and run my fingers through his hair. I know this motion has calmed him in the past. I'm not sure if it will work now but even if it works a little, it'll be worth it.

Logan walks past the room and takes a few steps back to look on the doorway. He makes eye contact with me and enters the room. He wraps his arms around the both of us and squeezes.

Summer and Kara hold hands as they enter the room. "Can we join?" Little Kara asks with tears in her eyes. Her sister wipes her face with her free hand.

"Of course." Logan and I say in unison. The girls enter the room. Kara clings to my legs and Summer grabs on to Peter's. Peter rests his head on my shoulder. I can feel his huge tears soaking my shirt as he cries.

Mason runs in and grabs on to the bottom of my shirt, so hard that it feels like he might rip it off my body if he grabs it any tighter. I slide one hand down to touch the top of his head.

My father walks in the room with baby Tilly in his arms. They join in too.

One by one, the entire family joined in on the hug making it a special moment. The only person we are missing is Hillary.

Authors note: this was an entire filler chapter. It is just to move the plot along a little. I know it didn't have any action or anything but I'm hoping it was still interesting to you guys!

I have decided how this story is going to end! Isn't that an amazing (yet sad) thought? I'm going to make it an even 50 chapters! That means there are only 12 chapters left for me to write!
