Author's Note: I'm changing the point of view (again) to a narrator for this chapter because it fits better. I'm sorry if this is confusing to you.
Logan and Tyler sit in the kitchen with all of the lights off. It is the best place to sit so that they can see all of the exits and entrances. Each of them are armed with a baseball bat they found in the basement among the kids' toys.
They are six hours into their all-nighter and things are going well so far. The pair have mostly talked about simple things like the local football teams and their favorite restaurants.
Everyone else has fallen asleep for the night. As for these two boys, their night is just beginning.
"So, you and Avery. How's that going?" Logan asks, changing topics from the light fluffy talk to something he actually wants to talk about.
"Yeah, it's going great actually." Tyler nods. "I really like her a lot."
Logan laughs. "She's great. You're really lucky." He wipes his face. "You don't look like you're enjoying it though."
Tyler shrugs. "She doesn't really share anything with me. I don't know anything about her past at all. And I'm pretty sure the only reason I know what's going on with her dad now is because I was there when it happened I don't think she would have told me if I wasn't."
Logan nods. "She's has a rough time. You've just got to give her some time to open up to you. The fact that you're still here is good. She will know she can trust you because you haven't run off yet."
"I just don't want to lose her. She makes me so happy. Any pointers?" Tyler looks to Logan for advice.
"Yeah. Don't fuck up like I did." Logan says.
"What- what do you mean?" Tyler asks, unsure of what Lohan means.
Logan laughs. "We uh, we dated."
"D-" Tyler shakes his head. "You're like, siblings. That's disgusting."
"Step-siblings." Logan corrects Tyler.
At this point, Tyler is in way over his head with information. He doesn't know how to process all of this. He can't tell how he is supposed to react to all of this "That doesn't make it any better!"
Logan shakes his head. "Listen, theres nothing to worry about. It's over. I'm married now."
"Well that makes me feel better. But you guys are still related. It's gross. I can't believe no one told me this!" Tyler stands up and paces the kitchen floor.
"We aren't related. Her and I have two completely different sets of parents. We just happened to live in the same house. It's a seriously wild, messed up family. But everything we had, is gone now. I shouldn't have even brought it up. I'm sorry." Logan apologizes to Tyler, understanding that he is upset by all of this.
Tyler shakes his head. "You guys are seriously fucked up."
"Yeah, we know." Lohan laughs.
Tyler is silent for a while. He is processing everything. It is a lot to take in, especially at three in the morning. "So, what did you do then?"
"What?"
Tyler sits back down in the chair next to Logan. "You said you fucked it up with Avery. What did you do?"
"I almost killed her."
"How?"
Logan covers his face with his hands for a moment, remembering. "It was so stupid. I got her some chocolates that had peanuts in them."
"She's allergic right? She did tell me that." Tyler smiles, remembering that his girlfriend told him that.
"Yeah. Very allergic. Like, had-a-massive-seizure-on-her-bed-in-front-of-me allergic." Logan explains. "And she almost died."
"And then what?"
Logan sets the baseball bat on the floor. "And then I ran away. I planned on never coming back. I was on my way to the train station when my wife, she drove by and saw me in a panic. We were married not too long after that."
Tyler nods. "So you just left Avery? To die?"
Logan laughs. "I guess when you put it that way. I just loved her so much and the thought of me being the reason she died, I just couldn't handle it. I had to leave. I knew the doctors would do their best but I really thought it was already too late."
"That's dark, man."
Logan nods. "Which is why I mean it when I say it's over. Even if I wasn't married and I still loved her, she would never take me back. She hates me." Logan sighs. "And then you came by and swept her off her feet. You're good for her."
"You think so?" Tyler asks.
"I know so. I know this is going to be a forever thing. I wouldn't be surprised if you two end up getting married."
Authors note: what do you think?
Do you think Logan messed things up for Avery and Tyler by telling Tyler they dated?
