"Wait," I turn to Logan as we search the rest of the church for the missing bride-to-be. "Don't you have that phone tracking app for everyone in the family? I bet she has her phone with her. We could find her that way."
Logan nods and pulls out his phone. "Good idea." He loads the app as fast as he can and we begin tracking her location. "If says she should be right outside."
"Lets go get her then!" Logan and I exit the church in search of his mom. I am determined to have this wedding go on even if it means tracking her down for the next week.
Logan and I follow the tiny electronic map until it looks like we are right on top of her.
"It says she should be right here. I don't understand." Logan drops his phone to his side an sighs.
"Well, there no way these things can be perfect. But I bet she is still somewhere in the area. She can't be far if the app says we are right here." I say, hoping that I am right.
I step away from the church and look up and down the sidewalk beside it, hoping to see if I can locate the fleeing Hillary. Or if I can at least find someone who may have seen where she went.
I scream and cover my mouth.
"What?!" Logan rushes over to my side to see what I screamed about. "Mom!"
Logan runs over to his mom while I stand on the sidewalk still in shock of my grisly discovery. What happened? I join Logan, eager to help in any way that I can.
I kneel down beside her and feel around her neck for a pulse.
From what I can tell, based on the blood coming from the back of her head and the bruises covering her arms, neck, and face, it looks like she jumped. And just by guessing, I'd say the window right above us is the bathroom window I shut because of the breeze entering the bathroom.
Logan tries desperately to wake his mom up despite her skin being cold to the touch. I think she's been here for a little while. How has nobody seen her lying here and called for help?
Her head wound looks very bad. I can't see it but I can see all the blood oozing from it. She hit the ground hard.
The bruises on her body are fresh, likely from whatever happened back in her dressing room that caused her to leap to her death from her dressing room window.
I struggle to find a pulse in her neck as Logan continues shaking her. I can't sense a pulse. I'm not sure if it is because he is shaking her so violently or if there just isn't one.
"You have to call an ambulance. You have to call someone, Avery."
I search around on Hillary to find her phone. She must be laying right on top of it. I continue looking for a pulse, taking advantage of the fact that Logan has stopped shaking her for a moment.
"I don't think we need to call an ambulance, Logan. I think she's dead."
