"ALRIGHT HOLD ON JUST A BLOODY DAMN SECOND"
Harry's voice sounded irritated beyond measure and his accent seemed a lot heavier that what he said was almost indistinguishable. The usual way bespoke when he was irritated or when his temper spikes up. His tone of voice seemed cool and calm laced with confusion, annoyance, and hostility. As he spoke, he stomped his way with the power and intensity of a stampede towards me and Victor breaking up our little moment. He used his long strong arms to come between us and separate us.
He stood tall and puffed out his chest a little bit and raised his chin up high with his arms slightly apart facing Victor and pushing me behind him protectively. The usual stance I recognized males use when fighting for dominance. A hostile and suspicious air surrounded Harry while Victor stood there with his posture straight, his arms relaxed on his sides, looking at Harry in the eyes. It wasn't a stance for dominance, but a stance of trying to be civil.
"Who are you to stomp in here n' start all this drama n' making me feel like I'm watchin' a real life chick flick? Few seconds and a few words in you think I trust you to be around Hyacinth?" Harry spat the words out with venom.
Even so, Victor remained cool and calm with his face nonchalant and stoic and his posture relaxed as opposed to Harry's defensive one. He was about to open his mouth and get a few words in but I abruptly stepped forward between them looking up at Harry and putting a hand on his elbow trying desperately to get him to chill.
"Okay Harry, you need to take a chill pill right now. I need you to calm down" I ordered sternly but gently at the same time. He diverts his gaze to me with his eyes blazing they almost looked like they were on fire. As his ill tempered eyes met mine, I felt my heart skip a beat like it always did. That's when I was reminded that I love Harry. But what about Captain? What about Victor?
"No Hyacinth" Harry replied with just as much hostility "you need to take a chill pill. Guy comes in here you look at him and suddenly you're in love?"
He emphasized the "you" and glared at me with an accusing look. He pointed a rough finger as he said it and turned his gaze back to glare atVictor. "You don't even know him" he continued. "Just because he knows your name it isn't anything special"
"Harry. I know him and he knows me. He appears in my dreams at night only his face was blurred like someone was preventing me from remembering him. Dreams of memory. When you're a demigod or a god dreams are either memories or prophecies. I have reoccurring dreams of him every night for the past hundred years of my life. I have looked for him for so long and now I've found him" I glance at Victor who gave me a small smile and I returned it. "Or I guess I should say he found me"
Harry continues his intensive glaring but this time it is in disbelief. He shifts his gaze constantly between me and Victor before finally settling his eyes on me. "What exactly is the connection between you two?" He asks
I sighed and said "Harry..." I paused hesitating. I took a deep breath before continuing "He's my lover from my past life"
This is where Evie after being silent for so long found her voice in one word of shock. "What?!" She exclaimed. Evie and Harry's eyes were wide in disbelief. They glanced at each other as if to ask one another if they heard me right. I sighed once more and took Victor's hand in mine. We both smiled at each other and held our hands tight together.
"It's true" I said.
"But then, how is he alive? And young? If he's from your far past, shouldn't he be dead as of now? Or grey haired and not a teenager?" Evie ranted with her questions. Harry nodded his head in agreement and still glared at Victor in distrust with his hands crossed.
"Well, he did die pretty young in my dreams. His boat sank from a thunderstorm. Then in another dream after that one, I saw that I was handing him something. It was..."
Victor cut me off "A ring?"
I nodded. "Yes exactly. What was the ring for?" I asked turning to him.
"It was your engagement ring. I guess your dreams didn't specify that. We were going to be married before I died" he said and we shared a nostalgic look gripping each other's hands tighter.
"Right well how are you alive and where's that ring now?" Harry further interrogated still not convinced. He frowned deeply at Victor and I could tell Harry didn't like him and was suspicious.
"Well, to answer your question, I am alive because I've been given the special opportunity to become reborn. To be reborn is basically to live again but in a different time than from that I lived and died in. That dream Hyacinth had about her giving me the ring was the last conversation we had before I stepped into the door of rebirth. We promised we would find each other. You see, when you choose to be reborn, the people who knew you back then won't remember you. Though on most cases it's impossible that the people who knew you would still be alive because most rebirths are reborn a hundred maybe even thousands of years after their time. But Hyacinth, is immortal. So the Fates made real sure to erase her memory of me" Victor explained.
"So when you said 'them' in my dreams, you meant the Fates?" I asked.
He nodded his head. "As soon as I woke up, I found myself in this different but in the same time, not so different body from what I used to have lying down by some random ocean shore naked. I still have the same face but my hand isn't amputated with a hook" he said raising his hand clenching and unclenching it. "It will take some getting used to without my hook and having my hand back. As soon as I could, I scrounged for resources and looked for Hyacinth"
At this point, he put his arm around my shoulder and I let him leaning into his chest and resting my head on his shoulder with a small smile on my face. But the scowl on Harry's face was glued there like there was no tomorrow.
"And the ring?" Harry urged on.
Victor sighed and shrugged. "I tried looking for it but no luck. I guess the Fates didn't allow anything to be brought with me when I was reborn"
"It's okay" I said "we can always buy a new one. Now come on. You are going to be a student here. I'll show you around"
Hand in hand Victor and I walked out of the office not minding the stares of disbelief coming from behind. Meanwhile I was deep in thought. I love my Captain. I've searched far and wide for him, every possible nook and cranny and now here he is. We have been through so much together and searched for each other. Now here we were. Our love remained even after thousands of years. Even after death. I still vaguely remember our kisses and I love you's and romantic walks by the beach later lying down on the shore wrapped in his arms.
But I also love Harry. And his stupid smirk and piercing blue eyes. Our playful flirting and the way he tickles me and holds me protectively. I love him too. All the nights we had under the stars were not to be forgotten nor should I forget the fun we had in the Underworld, being mistaken as a couple, and going back to the Isle for him or when he drunkenly kissed me on the neck. It was intoxicating. I love him too. With all my heart. But I also love the Captain.
I was a whirlwind of confusion. Thoughts were scattered in my brain along with flashes of memories and words spoken. They are both precious to me. Captain and Harry. I never thought this day would come that I had to choose between the man in my dreams and the man of my dreams. Who do I really love?
