Chapter Nine

*Lunch Time* 

Jenna P.O.V

Melody was at lunch and she was going crazy searching her backpack. “Melody I think you should calm down.” Katie said. “I can’t calm down. My songbook is missing!” She exclaimed. “You write songs?” Riker asked. “Yes. And now my book is missing. It had the song that I was going to preform for the moonlight jam.” She said. 

“Okay, just calm down. Where was the last place you put your song book?” I asked. “The orchestra room.” She answered. “Okay well then we will go check. Let’s go.” I said. “I’ll come too.” Rocky said. I smiled and he took my hand. He pecked my lips and I pecked his back. 

“Can we please go?!?” Melody asked. We nodded and headed towards the orchestra room. 

Jocelyn P.O.V

I was eating lunch with my table and texting Josh at the same time. Josh was well my other boyfriend. He didn’t mind that I was dating Ross because as soon as the Moonlight Jam is over I’m breaking up with Ross. My phone fell onto the ground. 

“I’ll get it.” Ross said. “No! I’ll get it.” I said. I didn’t want him to know that I was cheating on him. I went under the table to pick up my phone. It was near Ross’ backpack. As I grabbed my phone I saw a book with Melody’s name on it. I took the book and stuffed it into my purse. 

“Uh I have to go the bathroom. I’ll be right back.” I said. Ross gave me a goodbye kiss and I headed towards the girls bathroom. I took out the book that read “Melody’s Song Book” and I opened it.  The first page was a song called “Mean.” 

I read the lyrics and it looked like the song was about me. Aww she wrote a song about me. So sweet. I turned the page and found another song. It was called “Behind these Hazel Eyes.” I read them and to be honest this song was fantastic! 

Then Kali walked into the bathroom. I gave a her a sly smile and raised the book. “What’s that?” She asked. “It’s Melody’s song book and I think I know what were using to sing at the Moonlight Jam.” I replied. “And as is “were” you mean you and Ross?” Kali asked. 

“Nope. I mean me and you.” I replied. She smiled. “So what’s going to happen to Ross?” “I guess I’ll just have to break up with him. I mean I don’t need him anymore now that I have this.” I replied. 

“So what song are we singing?” She asked. I opened up the page to Hazel eyes and she began to read the lyrics. “Wow! This is amazing!” She exclaimed. I nodded in agreement. She handed me the book back. “How are we going to pick out the tune? We don’t know how to play any instruments.” Kali did have a good point. 

“I guess we need Ross after all.” I said. “Or we could always use his siblings. I mean they are talented. Maybe we could trick them into it.” Kalie said. “Wow your right but who’s the easiest to trick. We need someone who is always happy and easy to bribe.” I said. Kali and I exchanged looks. 

“Rydel.” We both said. We laughed and walked out of the bathroom. This has got to be the most amazing day ever. 

Rocky P.O.V

“I can’t believe my book is no where to be found! We checked the orchestra room, Music room, my locker, and the lost and found. I’m never going to find that book.” Melody whined. “Melody, don’t worry. We’ll find it. Does anyone else know about your song book?” I asked. 

“The only person that ever saw my song book was..Ross. OMG! I think your brother has it!” Melody ran down the halls. “Melody wait up!” Jenna yelled. We ran but we lost her. Then the school bell rang. 

“I really hope she finds that book.” I said. Jenna nodded in agreement. We headed to our class and sat next to each other. 

*Science Class* 

Ross P.O.V

Today in science we had to learn about chemicals. For some reason  Melody wasn’t- 

“Sorry I’m late! I was looking for my book and I went to the office to find my book but I do have a late pass!” Melody yelled as she interrupted my thoughts. The teacher nodded and told her to get the supplies and take her seat so she did. 

Melody sat next to me. This was getting awkward again. 

“Ross, I know you don’t want to talk to me but I need to ask you something.” She said. “What?” “Where’s my songbook?” She asked. “Oh well I was in the orchestra room and I found it.” 

“Then give it back to me.” She demanded. I nodded and looked in backpack for it. It wasn’t there. Why wasn’t it- Oh Crap! Jocelyn must’ve taken it when she dropped her phone. 

I looked into Melody’s hazel eyes. Her eyes reminded me of the song. “Uh, Melody. I don’t know how to tell you this but Jocelyn.. I think she took your book.” 

“WHAT!” She yelled. The whole class looked at her. “Sorry. She just loves working with chemicals.” I replied. “You gave Jocelyn my book?” She questioned. “No. I didn’t I was in the orchestra room and I heard music so I followed it. Then when I got in there no one was there but then I found your songbook and-“ 

“You saw the song I wrote about you.” She said as she interrupted me. I nodded. “Look, Ross you don’t understand. Your hurt me.” Melody said. “I know and I’m sorry.” “Sorry doesn’t cut it. Ross you hurt me and I will never forgive you for what you did.” Melody said. 

Those words crushed my heart. “I’ll make it up to you. I promise.” I said. “Just get me my book back.” I nodded and we workedon the project. 

Melody P.O.V

As usual Ross and I finished before the whole class. We had 10 minutes of free time before the bell rang. Maybe I  should tell him. 

“Ross, I need to tell you something but I know your not going to like it.” I said. “Tell me.” “Jocelyn is cheating on you.” I said. He looked me in the eyes. 

“I don’t believe you.” He said. “Ross go to Jenna she has the proof. She took a picture of Jocelyn and some other guy kissing.” I said. “Okay, You know what Melody. I know you like me but lying just so I can break up with Jocelyn is just cruel.” He replied. 

“I’m cruel? Your the one who doesn’t even care about his family or friends!” I said. “And your the one who wrote a mean song about me.” He replied. 

“You know what Ross. I’m sorry. I’m sorry for ever falling in love with you and I’m sorry that we met. I’m sorry that I ever even liked you because I know that you and I will never happen!” I yelled. The bell rang and I ran out the door. 

I couldn’t believe he didn’t believe me!
