White Walls

When I was merely a child,
I realised my own private world was so, so empty
It lacked colour, it was the embodiment of the absence of light
Being the child I was,
I cringed at the sight and decided
To colour it, colour it until there is not a single shred of emptiness

It was fairly easy I must say
Colouring, just colouring
I was not good at portraits
But here am I
Splashing colour everywhere
The best part was I
Actually made a masterpiece
The colours blended so perfectly
It was phenomenal
There was not a single soul to judge me, I've experienced freedom
For the first time

I truly loved the comfort of my land
The kingdom I solely ruled
My everything
But,
I hated the fact that this was not love
My beloved cannot love me back
So I abandoned it

I seeked true love
At least that was what I wanted
But all I saw was lust
The people around me emitted lust
And being the fool I was,
I gladly and foolishly embraced it
It did not take a long time for me
To loose my common sense

I was a human
Pursuing lust, not love
Love and lust are on the different side
Of a detestable coin
Just separated by a razor thin line
I have crossed the line
And ruined my life

But afterwards, I grew bored
Of my mundane life of lust
After an eternity, I finally decided
To retreat into my country
I expected that place to be the same
But, during my absence,
The world around me changed
Everyone now look at me with disgust
I was no longer the innocent girl
Who was filled with purity

To my dismay,
My haven has changed too
Just like everything outside
I remembered the sea of rainbow
But all I see is the colour of death
Black everywhere
An eternal black void
It was different,
Way too different from the world
I've previously known
They say black is the absence of light
I strongly agree
I don't see a platform where I can rebuild everything as it once was

Why oh why did I ever leave this place?
Why have I chosen to engulf myself in despair?
Why has this fool chosen to forsake freedom?
