It was Nicole's birthday
It was her special day
She was really excited
To have fun with all her friends12 o'clock
That was the time the party would start
Nicole was exceptionally excited to eat the cake
The cake was a chocolate rainbow cake
It was her all-time favourite cake12 o'clock!
Nicole was patiently waiting for her guests to arrive
But none came
"It's alright, I'm sure they'll come."
Nicole told herself1 o'clock
Still no one
"Maybe they're stuck in a traffic jam.
Yeah, that's right. A traffic jam."
Nicole told herself2 o'clock
There was still no one
Nicole was getting impatient
She decided to call her friends
But there was no response3 o'clock
The telephone rang
Nicole happily picked up the phone
Hoping it was one of her friends
But, it was not one of her friends
It was a prank call
"It's alright, that means there's more cake for me.
That's right.
Everything is fine.
There's nothing wrong..."
Nothing wrong
There was definitely something wrong
Nicole was laughing
And crying at the same timeThe next day in school
Nicole did not want to come
But her Mother forced her
She reluctantly agreed
When she stepped into the school building
Everyone stared at her
Nicole was puzzled
She usually loved to be in the center of attention
But not todayWhen she found her "friends",
She lashed out
"Why weren't you at my party? Did you know how long I waited? How could you?"
Her "friends" pointed at her and started laughing
Her "best friend" Nikki spoke up
"Why should we go to your party freak? Your Mom's alcoholic, your Dad has a mistress and your brother is smoking cannabis.
Why should we go to a freak's house?
Who would want to get infected with the freak disease? On top that, I told everyone in school about your family!"
Nicole's jaw dropped
She could not believe it
She could handle it anymore
So, she ran
She did not care where she went
She just wanted to get away from everythingNicole ran out of the school building
Out to the open road
She did not see the incoming lorrySCREECH! CRASH!
Nicole only turned 12 the day before
She really led a short life indeed
It really is a pity
Her parents were saddened by the news
Her brother still continued to smoke cannabis as he could not
Handle the stress
Her "friends" felt little to no remorseIf only she did not dash across the road
If only her "friends" did not bully her
Poor Nicole, if only there was a way to take it all back
That way she could be still alive
But that is how it works
The cruelty of this world
If only there is a way to make this world less cruel
If only...
