I rushed towards my teacher, not giving a second thought as to what I was planning to do.

"Sir! Sir!," I called out to him.

"What?!," he turned around, "Jeongin, are you okay?!" he asked, checking if I was hurt.

"Yes, yes, I'm ok. But I think Y/N is still trapped inside the school."

He looked at me with disbelieving eyes. "A-are you sure?!"

"I've tried looking for her throughout the crowd but I can't seem to find her. The only explanation is that she's still inside. Please, you have to let me go get her!"

"No!," he snapped, giving me that same stern look he did when he called out my name in the classroom earlier. Oh how I wish I could've gone back, before all of this happened. "It's far too dangerous for you, a student, to go in there alone. Just hang on a bit, the firemen are going to be here any minute. I will not allow you to go in there!" He could see that I was freaking out so he held my shoulders, looked me in the eyes, and said with a calm, reassuring voice, "Don't worry, I'm sure Y/N is fine. She knows how to handle herself." He then left me to go check on the other students.

Even though the teacher told me to not worry, all I could do was worry. I kept pacing back and forth, pulling back my hair, trying to think of what to do. Every second that passes is another second that Y/N is still in there. In danger.

What if I lose her?...

Thoughts so unbearable start ringing in my head, like a wind chime during a storm.

What will I do without her?...

Will I ever be able to say sorry to her?...

Will I even get to say goodbye?...

Will I ever get the chance to say that I love her?...

I can't even begin to imagine what will happen if I lost her. I had already figuratively lost her for a whole week, but actually losing her...

I couldn't take anymore of these what ifs  and will I's. I don't care what the teacher says about not going in. I barely listened during his lessons, why would I start now.
(A/N: Jeongin is a good boy I swear)

I bolted towards the entrance, not paying any regards to my name being called by my teacher and others.

Barely slipping past the small opening in the entrance, I was able to get inside. The place was engulfed in smoke and fire. The walls were being consumed by the flames. Fragments of the building were collapsing. It was like hell up in here.

I have to get to Y/N...

Covering my nose and mouth with my sleeve, I swiftly but carefully made my way up the stairs to the second level where my classroom was at.

"Y/N! Y/N!," I called out for her. The hallway and the classrooms were enveloped in a sea of flames. I rushed into my class hoping that Y/N was inside.

It was a sight to behold. Desks and chairs were set aflame. You could see the leftover scorch marks the fire left behind. At that moment, I was reminded of my dream.

Was it a sign all along?...

I seemed to get lost in thought, standing there, motionless, just like in my dream. Suddenly, I heard cries for help. However, unlike in the dream, I came back to my senses.

"Help! Help!," the person cried out.

"Y/N! Is that you?! Where are you?!" I looked around frantically.

"J-Jeongin? I'm over here!," she coughed out.

I tried to follow the sound of her voice. That's when I saw her, huddled up in a corner.

"Y-Y/N!" Just as I was about to go to her, a part of the ceiling gave way and fell, blocking the space between us. Y/N yelped as she tried backing away.

"Jeongin, what do I do?!," she asked, panicking.

The smoke began to grow thicker, blurring my vision. I tried not to breathe in as much of the smoke as possible as I looked for another way for Y/N to get around. I noticed a small opening underneath the chunk of the ceiling that fell. It looked like a tight fit, but I'm pretty sure Y/N could get through.

"Hey, Y/N! Over here!" I pointed towards the opening.

"I can't fit through there!," she exclaimed.

"Come on, you gotta try! Unless you have some secret flying powers I don't know about, there's no other way out!" That seemed to convince her enough because as soon as I said that she started to make her way through the opening. I went to grab her hand to help pull her through before the whole thing collapsed on her. She got out just in time before it completely fell down.

"O-Oh my God, Y/N!" I looked at her before embracing her in a huge bear hug.

"Thank you, thank you so much.," she whimpered as she held close to my chest.

"Come on, let's get out of here." I said, the smoke starting to sting my eyes. Y/N started coughing as well.

I held her close to me as we tried to make our way back down to the entrance. The state the inside of the building was in had worsened, making it harder to maneuver our way out.

Once we made it to the front door, I made Y/N go first. Before I headed out, I turned one last time to look at what a catastrophe this had turned into. And for a split second, amongst the calamity, I swear I saw something in those flames. The once fiery, intense inferno turned into a violent, yet passionate dance. Making the glowing, burning flames somewhat captivating.

As I stepped outside, I had never been so happy to breathe in fresh air. Y/N and I were both covered in black soot. Yeah, a shower seemed nice at the moment.

The firemen and ambulance had just arrived and started putting out the fire and checking the staff and students. I hope nobody else was left inside. Unless I have to go back in there and save somebody's ass again?

While the paramedics were checking Y/N, my teacher came stomping my way. Oof, probably about to give the biggest lesson of my life.

"Do you know how reckless you were, doing that?! Seriously, Jeongin! You could've gotten hurt!"

"Bu-"

"No, I'm not done yet!" His voice suddenly dropped real low. A lot more calm than before, that's for sure. "Look, I won't say that what you did wasn't the right thing. I know how much you care about Y/N and you couldn't bear to just stand here without doing anything. But you have to know that it was dangerous and risky... But good job on rescuing her and getting back safe." He gave me a pat on my shoulder. I slightly chuckled as he gave me a somewhat proud smile.

As soon as they were done checking on Y/N, I went up to her. When she saw me, she immediately gave me the tightest hug, I couldn't breathe. She kept thanking me and also apologizing for the way she was acting before all of this; when she was ignoring me because we had that argument.

I gave her a hug again. "It's okay.," I said to her. "I forgive you. I was never really mad in the first place... I'm just glad you're okay."

She looked up at me with tears glistening in her beautiful eyes and a small, sad smile. I pulled her even closer to me, caressing her head while resting mine on hers. I never wanted to let go of her. Never wanted her to face the hands of danger ever again.

I'm going to keep her safe, no matter how hard I'll try. I'd run into a burning building again. I'd do 100x more dangerous things than that.

If it meant I'd keep her safe.
