"How about a little help here?," I said, struggling from the top of a ladder, trying to hang up a banner.Tomorrow is my best friend's birthday and I was setting up the decorations for a surprise party. Meanwhile, my boyfriend, Jisung, was being an unhelpful lil shit by just laying on the couch while munching on chips.
After not getting a response back from him, I exclaimed even louder, "Hey, stop being a lazy ass and come help me!"
"Hey, watch your language!," he barked back, "Use the term 'lazy bum' instead." Then he went back to eating his chips. I just rolled my eyes at that.
After finally being able to attach the banner to the wall by myself, I climbed down the ladder and stretched a bit. "Thanks a lot for your help.," I said, sarcastically.
"No problem, babe.," he said with a smirk.
"Shut up, you squirrel! Don't give me that look. You're supposed to be helping your girlfriend here!" I gave him a menacing glare.
"What can I say? I work hard at hardly working.," he said, earning a small chuckle from me. "Why are we even doing the party at our place anyways?," Jisung asked with a slight pout.
"Because Keira has been my best friend for 6 years now and I want to surprise her with a special party. Plus, it'll be too obvious if I try to do it at her place while Felix is taking her out for a date or something because I would've told him to. In other words, she'll catch on quickly that I have something up my sleeve because she's that smart bitch!," I replied, with a somewhat proud tone at the end. "Anyways, I'm going to the store to get a few things. You need anything?," I said while putting on my jacket.
"Yes, I need your love!," he said, attempting aegyo that I may or may not have cringed at.
(Maybe something like this?)
(Or this?)
"Dear Lord. Ugh, bye!," I said, walking out the door.
"Haha, love you too!" I heard him say before I closed the door behind me.
I decided to not take the bus and just walk. It was nice and fresh outside anyways. But it was pretty cloudy though.
Once at the store, I grabbed all the stuff I needed for the party. As I was about to head to the cashier to purchase the items, I decided to get Jisung's favorite chocolate because why not. When I exited the store, it looked a lot more cloudier than before. I really hope it doesn't rain.
Plugging in my earphones and pressing play on my playlist, I walked down the streets with a handful of bags in one hand. The fresh breeze blowing against my face was calming.
After a couple of minutes of walking, I spotted something that reminded me of Jisung displayed in a shop window of a jewelry/accessory store. It was a cute couple keychain set that simply described our relationship.
I decided to enter the shop and buy it as a random, little gift for him.
After buying the keychains and making sure that I got everything I needed, I started to make my way home.
Although, after about 15-20 mins, I started to regret not taking the bus. The sky seemed to have gotten much more darker and gloomier. The next bus stop wasn't for another mile, which with the speed I was walking right now, I'd get there in about 20 mins. Meanwhile, it looked like it was going to start pouring at any second.
I looked up at the sky, praying that it wouldn't start raining. Suddenly, I felt one drop on my forehead. Then another. And another.
Oh shit...
It started drizzling at first, then it turned into a outright downpour. I straight up took off like freaking Usain Bolt. However, I barely ran a minute and I already started getting tired. Man I need to workout more...
Slowing down my pace a bit, I tried to make sure the stuff inside the bags weren't getting too wet. I stopped under a streetlight to see better, and while checking, I glanced up to see a silhouette of a person with an umbrella over their head standing a few feet away from me. I'm not over exaggerating when I say that I felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest. I was so freaked out with this random figure just standing there, not saying anything, while I'm not able to see who they are because the light wasn't being shined at their face.
I slowly started backing away. However, every step I took backwards, the silhouette would take one forward. Once the person stepped into the light, a huge wave of relief washed over me. I was seeing the face of an idiot staring back at me. Aka my boyfriend.
"Yah!," I cried out. Then I dashed towards him, enveloping him in a hug, not caring that I was soaking wet. "You scared me half to death!," I said, my face buried in his chest.
"Sorry, babygirl."
I gave him a startled look. "Um, excuse me, who are you? Chan?"
"Yeah, that was weird, wasn't it? Never saying that again.," he admitted.
I just silently laughed and shook my head, burying my face in his chest again. "Thank you for coming when I needed you.," I said.
"Of course. I saw that it was going to rain and I knew that you didn't bring an umbrella with you. And knowing you, you would had decided to walk." He brought my face up and cupped my cheek in his hand. "No relationship is all sunshine, but two people can share one umbrella and survive the storm together.," he said, moving a wet strand of hair from my face.
I looked at him suspiciously. "Did you get that from the internet?"
"No... maybe... Come on! When I actually try to be romantic!," he exclaimed.
I giggled at his words. "It's okay. I still thought it was pretty romantic.," I reassured him.
"Well then, good." He swung his arm around my shoulder. "How about we head back home now? And this time I will help you finish decorating.," he suggested.
"What a great idea!," I said semi-sarcastically.
We started walking back home, thankful to be in each other's presence. I then remembered something.
"Oh, I got us a little something. I was going to show it to you at home, but since you're here now, I can't wait." I took out the keychains I bought earlier. Jisung read what was on them but didn't say anything for awhile. That's because his expression said it all. He had the most happiest, loving smile I had hoped he would have. "I also got you your favorite chocolate.," I told him. He looked at me with those sparkling eyes and said,
"I love you, Y/N."
"I love you too, Jisung."
And with that we both started having a playful argument on who loves who more.
