We were scheduled to meet up today for the exchange. Cindy was out of the hospital and Mona's surgery was successful, she was now recovering and was due to be discharged in a weeks time.
I was standing by myself in the open warehouse but I wasn't alone. We had snipers situated at different angles and persons waiting around ready to attack once called upon. I saw cars coming through the gate and I drew the chair that I had up to the front and sat on it, I was feeling really tired. I watched as they all came to a stop in front of the building and filed out of the cars, Cam was there and she dragged her hand away from the guy that was holding onto her. Always feisty.
The warehouse had an open front so I was sitting in clear view. Cam saw me and tried rushing over to me, she looked angry and I understood why. I saw Pedro and Roshawn, he was holding him up and it seemed as if Pedro's foot got worst and not better.
"Red," Shane said walking ahead of everyone.
"Shane," I said.
"Where's Grace?" She asked me.
"She's here," I answered.
We both stared at each other for awhile. Emotions were clearly displayed on her face while I'm sure mine was still in a neutral poker face expression. I knocked under the seat of my chair and a door flew open to my left, everyone turned their heads to the door that opened except me because I knew what was happening. Grace walked out followed by Raheem and the girl that she fell in love with. They were holding hands, I saw anger on Shane's face and I had to keep in my laughter.
"Come here, Grace." I said. They walked to stand in front of me and I looked at the stud that she was holding onto.
I wasn't the one who recruited her, maybe Raheem did but she seemed young and inexperienced.
"Simba," I said looking at her. She nodded her head and let go of Grace's hand and walked back behind me to stand with Raheem.
"Grace, I'm sorry but you have to go now. You've been our captive for long enough." I said.
"But, I don't want to." She said only loud enough for me to hear.
"I understand but we talked about this and you have to go." I said.
"Grace..." I heard Shane call to her.
Fear was evident on her face but I couldn't save her now, she had to go and face the people she swore allegiance to.
Once she turned away and walked over to Shane, Pedro and Roshawn made their way to me. I pointed behind me so that they could go stand with Raheem. My face was still stone cold when it was Cam's turn to come forward. She ran up to me and stared down at me.
"Hi," I said.
Must've said the wrong thing because she lifted her hand and slapped me across the face. I heard snickers from across the warehouse and persons were looking down trying to hold back their laughter.
"Camille, not now." I said lowly.
"What do you mean not now? You left me there to rot for a whole WEEK!!" She shouted throwing her hands in the air.
"I had to act smart," I said.
"NIGGA, FUCK SMART! YOU SHOULDA RAN IN THERE GUNS BLAZING AND SHIT DEMANDING THAT THEY HAND ME OVER!!" She continued shouting. I sighed when I heard the snickering turning into coughs and low chuckles.
"You're not being logical," I said to her.
"FUCK LOGICS!!" She shouted again.
"Oldtimes..." I called and he came and threw Cam over his shoulders walking her towards the back and through the doors.
