Chapter 15 - The Decision to Change

Lety followed Fernando out into the main office. She felt relief in the fact that she and Fernando had not been caught. Her hand moved to her stomach, thinking about the future possibilities her life might hold. The greatest gift, she thought, would be having his child.

Lety siguió a Fernando a la oficina principal. Se sintió aliviada por el hecho de que ella y Fernando no habían sido atrapados. Su mano se movió a su estómago, pensando en las posibilidades futuras que su vida podría tener. El mayor regalo, pensó, sería tener a su hijo.

Fernando looked over to her office door as he saw her exit. She didn't come running with her usual hurry, instead she was walking slowly, lost in her thoughts. He saw he hand cover her belly and knew that she had to be thinking about what he had not stopped thinking about since yesterday afternoon when he had probably left her pregnant.

Fernando miró hacia la puerta de su oficina cuando la vio salir. No vino corriendo con su prisa habitual, en lugar de eso caminaba lentamente, perdida en sus pensamientos. Vio que le cubría el vientre con la mano y supo que tenía que estar pensando en lo que él no había dejado de pensar desde la tarde de ayer, cuando probablemente la había dejado embarazada.

He smiled, it would be perfect, he thought. To have a baby with Lety. As he thought about the possibilities, a few memories surfaced in his mind. The first, the comment he made to Omar, the night after his adventure with Fatima Bosch. She had excited him in the moment but after that he had no desire to see her again. The second was his conversation with Eduardo about love and how fulfilling making love with someone could be. It was the first time in his life he had felt such fulfillment, the first time he been with someone and wanted more every time he was with her. Finally, he thought of the freedom he was pursuing and the end result.

Él sonrió, sería perfecto, pensó. Tener un bebé con Lety. Mientras pensaba en las posibilidades, algunos recuerdos surgieron en su mente. El primero, el comentario que le hizo a Omar, la noche después de su aventura con Fátima Bosch. Ella lo había excitado en el momento, pero después de eso no tenía ganas de volver a verla. El segundo fue su conversación con Eduardo sobre el amor y lo satisfactorio que podría ser hacer el amor con alguien. Era la primera vez en su vida que sentía tal satisfacción, la primera vez que había estado con alguien y quería más cada vez que estaba con ella. Finalmente, pensó en la libertad que buscaba y el resultado final.

Fernando swallowed hard knowing what it was going to cost him to make his happiness with Leticia.

Fernando tragó con dificultad sabiendo lo que le costaría hacer su felicidad con Leticia.

"Lety, would you like to accompany me to the charity event for Yuri."

"Lety, ¿te gustaría acompañarme en el evento de beneficencia para Yuri?"

Lety looked at him surprised. Even though she had heard Fernando tell Alicia that he was taking Lety to the event, it had surprised her that he asked her, instead of just telling her they were going.

Lety lo miró sorprendida. A pesar de que había escuchado a Fernando decirle a Alicia que él estaba llevando a Lety al evento, le había sorprendido que le preguntara, en lugar de decirle que iban a ir.

"Of course Don Fernando, I just heard you tell Alicia we were going."

"Por supuesto don Fernando, acabo de escuchar que le dijiste a Alicia que íbamos".

"I know Lety, but I want to be sure you want to go with me, not order you to go."

"Lo sé, Lety, pero quiero estar segura de que quieres ir conmigo, no ordenar que vengas conmigo".
