Evan POV

Mom said she'd make tacos last night like a Taco Tuesday, but she had to go into work or else she'd be fired. ((idk how or why tho)) She said maybe tonight, but she had to go again.

Now I'm trying to order pizza online. Jared texted me, asking whether he should do his homework or play fortnite some more. I said homework because fortnite is too scary for me.

In physics, Zoe asked me about my relationship to Connor. She put her chin on her hand and listened really closely.

"Well he sat with me on Saturday and we chatted and now we're friends. Why?"

"Isn't he, like, creepy and weird though?"

"No, not really. He's nice."

"My idiotic older brother is not nice."

"Oh." I wasn't sure what to say after that, so I looked up at the board as the teacher wrote the homework down.

"Also, I didn't go to the restaurant on Saturday."

"I noticed."

She flipped her hair behind her shoulder. "Are you mad at me?"

"Not really."

"Are you sure? Because I thought you would be."

"Nope," I said casually.

She scoffed. "Whatever."

"What?" I picked up my pencil and put the homework in my notebook.

"Just- uugHHH!" She groaned.

I'm so confused,,

I sat with Jared at lunch today. Connor came too. It was so weird because I rarely ever see him in the lunchroom. Jared said "Hi there, Murphy. Lovely day isn't it?"

"Meh."

"Aww don't be so sad," Jared said with a weird voice.

"Hey bestie. You okay?" Connor looked down at me. I feel short, but then again, there's always Jared.

I unzipped my lunchbox. I brought a cookie and I ate that first. I like cookies. "Yeah. Just physics stuff."

"Zoe or something?"

"No.."

"Okay."

I don't want to rat Zoe out. But also... IM CONNOR'S BESTIE!
