Evan POV

You guessed it. Connor's at my house again. Of course. *grin*

He took a sip of his glass of milk and I got some orange juice. My phone rang.

"It's Zoe," Connor told me.

"Oh. Should I answer it then?"

"Yeah. On speaker."

I did just that. As soon as I clicked the call button, she was already talking. "Huh?"

"Oh hi Evan. I just called to tell you that I'm irritated."

"Okay?" I shrugged.

"Seriously. You, my idiot brother," Connor rolled his eyes and Zoe continued, "my stupid jazz band teacher. Ugh."

"And you called me because..?"

"Just be glad I even still talk to you. I might have actually liked you if everything wasn't so stupid and you weren't with my brother or whatever. Ugghh."

Connor started gesturing with his hands and mouthing things. I didn't understand what he wanted me to say. Flamingo? Turtle? Ohhh, 'That's not my fault.' I don't want to be mean or anything.

"Hello?"

"Uh.." I went with it. "That's not m-my fault..?"

She just groaned and hung up angrily. If this were an older wall phone thing, she definitely would have broken it, slamming it so hard.

Connor just snickered. "You're so sweet."

"Whatever."

Jared POV

Shit. I left my jacket at Evan's house.

I walked over and knocked on the door. Surprisingly, I was greeted by Heidi. "Hi Jared."

"Hey Heidi. I left my jacket here yesterday. I'm going to the football game and I need it."

"Why are you going to football? You hate sports."

"Yeah. But I like cheerleaders."

"Okay. Evan's in his room."

"Thanks."

I walked into the bedroom down the hall ((sob)) which startled Evan.

"AGH! Jared? Why are you here?" He dropped his pencil.

"Left my jacket. Dude relax, I'm not coming to murder you."

His eyes just widened. I patted his back. He got up and said, "I'm gonna get some juice."

"Okay. I'm gonna head out once I find it." I looked around. I could swear I put it here on the back of the chair. Oh. It's on the desk beneath a paper. I unfolded it and started reading...

Dear Evan Hansen,
It turns out this wasn't an amazing day after all. This isn't going to be an amazing week or an amazing year because...why would it be?

Oh I know, because there's Zoe. And all my hope is pinned on Zoe. Who I don't even know and who doesn't know me. But maybe if I did. Maybe if I could just talk to her, then maybe...maybe nothing would be different at all.

I wish that everything was different. I wish that I was a part of...something. I wish that anything I said mattered, to anyone. I mean, face it: would anybody even notice if I disappeared tomorrow?

Sincerely, your best and most dearest friend,
Me

Holy shit. Holy fucking shit. Evan...

Wait, this is deep. so he was super upset about Zoe. And now that he's with Connor, he doesn't seem to be. I could be wrong though because what I see is only the tip of the iceberg. I can't assume Evan's feelings or emotions. ((preach Jared))

I the letter and gave it to Connor. "Connor you are great for Evan. He's really happy with you and he seemingly hasn't had much of that in a while, according to the letter."

"Wow. Wait, this is addressed to Evan."

"He has to write letters to himself for therapy. Speaking of, he hasn't been needing his anxiety meds and whatever else he needs. He stopped taking them around the time you came around."

"Really?"

"Mhm."

Connor scanned the letter one more time, then shoved it in his pocket. "Thanks."

"No problem, buddy," I said. He rolled his eyes.
