The drive to Jordan's

Collin's POV

I walked back in the house calmly. Ignoring all the stares and wierd looks I walked into the basement, to the "crazy room". It's a room we made up of hard and easy to break things. We set it up in case something really bad happens and one of us needs to cool down. It's either this or a run. The run is usually a less safe option -for humans atleast-  because of the people that may be in the woods. I shut the door, locking it behind me.

Victoria was the only thought radiating through my mind. I finally snapped, fangs erupting from my gums. I kicked over the table, punched the mirror and watched it shadder around my hand. I screamed and cursed, breaking and tearing everything into to bits and pieces. In the end I was sitting in a corner crying.

I cried one other time before and that was when I was nine. My mom was just killed and my dad had run out on me. The guys found me a few days later and took care of me until I turned ten. They turned me and trained me to be who I am today. I am probably the strongest person I know, but even the biggest buildings break down.

Victoria's POV

I was riding in the silence with Danny. Nothing but the sound of the engine and the wind.

"I know your mad, Victoria." He broke the silence.

"Mad doesn't begin to describe how I feel right now. He's right, I still want answers but I'm disappointed. I was just beginning to trust people again. I can't trust anyone. I can't trust Ashlyn to tell me the truth. I can't trust you. I can't trust Trey or Collin, whoever he is." I decided to keep my cool and just stop talking because if I kept going I'd be screaming my thoughts and crying again and I'm tired of all that.

"I'm sorry. It's not that I didn't want to tell you, I couldn't. There's certain commitments you make to your Family, a nest is what its really called but that makes it sound like im a bird or some shit and I don't poop on people's cars, eat worms or fly." He joked.

I managed a small smile.

"There's that smile." He looked over to me "Just understand no one had an intention to hurt you. He really was here to protect you. The reason I moved was because all my friends friends were human and I was getting trained. The guys had tricked my parents into new jobs and stuff so I could get proper training."

Makes sense why he up and moved so suddenly.

"I came back because I heard you were being assigned a Protector and I was hoping it could be me, sense that would be most comfortable for you. But, I didnt get back in time and Collin got the position. I stayed around in to watch him watch you. Make sure he does his job because I love you and don't want anything to happen to you. He made the suggestion to Warren, he's bossman, that he could protect you better if he could get closer so he became your kik buddy Collin, and moved to your school as Trey." He explained

"So how did I even become a person on the radar or whatever.  Like, what made you guys think I needed a protector?" I asked. I calmed down a little in the twenty minutes I've been in the car. Danny has always been able to help me in bad situations.

"Well they were actually just on the watch for new vamps and other nests on the west coast. When Rachel's nest popped up and you were a target for her. I threatened to have her head on a stick if she didn't leave you alone once I found out. The guys found out you were close to me and decided you needed a protector."

"Why didn't they pick you?" If he was already close to me why not him?

"Because I had just been introduced to humans for the first time since my turning about three months before the meeting and they didn't trust me yet." He said. 

We turned down Jordan's street.

"When you get in here tell him you were at the park. Trey went there to look for you and you stayed at his place for a while, watched a few movies, ate dinner, took a nap. When he came to pick me up from the movies he went back home and I drove you here because Trey was..tired I guess." He told me what to say

"Why cant I-"

"It's not your place to tell him. He'll find out soon but not from you." He cut me off pulling into Jordan's driveway. "I'm glad Collin was your protector. He's doing a great job, just give him a chance. He's gonna wait until you talk to him, I just know that's how he works. Just don't wait too long okay?" I nodded giving him a sideways hug and getting out of the car.
