Dimmed lights were set in the front and back end of the Hawkins High School auditorium. Lights in a sequence of blue yellow blue illuminated the stage, along with overhead lights.
The stage was set with risers, the lower two levels holding folding chairs with royal blue gowns set on them neatly. A table standing front and center with candles and signs set on it. A podium in the left corner, and white and blue balloons tied to the back of the top riser, imprinted with the National Honor Society symbol.
Mothers, fathers, grandparents, and more gathered in groups throughout the room and chatted proudly as they awaited the ceremony's begin.
The Wheeler parents and siblings talked with the Sinclair's and Mrs Henderson, while Joyce and Jim Hopper conversed amongst themselves.
Max and Lucas wee seated in the front row as they talked quietly, with hushed giggles and playful eye rolls they waited for their more "scholarly" friends to be inducted into National Honor Society.
The current members walked up onto the stage in an orderly fashion and took their seats on the top row of risers.
"Welcome to the 1987 Hawkins High school National Honor Society induction ceremony, before we begin, may you all rise as we are led in our pledge of allegiance."
Everyone rose and spoke the pledge in unison. After being seated the professor leading the ceremony gave a brief history of the organization, and what it meant to be in NHS.
"We will now begin the induction." She said, and the president of Hawkins' NHS chapter stood by the podium.

Mike, El, Dustin, and Will stood in the hallway, conversing happily as they awaited becoming what Dustin called "academic legends."
"Academic legends my ass Dustin, we're not academic legends until we graduate from Harvard and discover life on a new planet." El said sarcastically and giggled. Mike draped his arm over her shoulder and kissed her cheek, smiling.
"Watch your language Hopper. Wouldn't want me to go tell the chief would you?" Dustin threatened.
"I've been friends with you for a long time, he'll know where the influence is from." She said back and grinned.
"Not so high and mighty now are you Dust-bin." She taunted, Dustin chuckled.
"Dustin is the reason anyone in the party swears." Will stated, Dustin whining at him.
"We will now begin the induction."
The four teens straightened up and got ready to stand in the back of the auditorium with their peers that were also being inducted.
"Well guys, this is it..." Dustin trailed off, some part of the other three thought he might say something nice or with some wisdom, but that was wishful thinking.
"Let's go mother fuckers!" He said excitedly and grabbed Will by the arm dragging him to the auditorium.
El began to follow them, but Mike stopped her, she faced him with a warm smile.
"I uh- I just wanted to say how proud I am of you El" Mike started, his brown eyes staring down at the smaller girl with such admiration and utterly pure love. "You're so smart, and so brave, I don't think anyone could be as brave as you. You're just- perfect, there's no other way to sum that up, you're perfect. Beautiful, funny, smart, brave, you are everything to me El, everything. Don't you ever forget that okay?" Mike said, he gave a small soft smile, and El launched herself at him in a hug.
"Thank you Mike." Somehow he knew she wasn't just thanking him for the nice little speech, it was everything he had done for her over the past few years.
Mike saved her.
"You guys, come on your names will be called soon!" Dustin whisper-shouted through the door. Mike and El broke apart, El leaning up to place a sweet kiss on Mike's slightly parted lips. She gently pulled him with her out to the auditorium.
Will was already seated on the stage with a royal blue and gold gown draped over his shoulders.
"Dustin Henderson." Dustin stood and walked up to the stage with a big smile, the current president of Hawkins NHS told everyone a few things about him, put on his gown and moved on the next student.
Anticipation built in the pits of their stomachs as more people were called. Mike picked at the his sleeves and El tapped her fingers on her thigh.
"Michael Wheeler." He looked at El quickly, she gave him a reassuring smile and motioned him to walk up with her hands.
"Micheal Wheeler, son of Karen and Ted Wheeler is a junior, who enjoys spending time with his best friends and girlfriend. After high school he plans on attending college, and pursuing a career in music." The current president said.
Another girl in NHS welcomed him. Mike basically had to kneel to let her put the gown on his shoulders because he was so tall. He grinned and got a round of applause.
Mike and El exchanged smiles from the front and back of the auditorium, and two more people were called up. Leaving El as the last student.
"And last but not least, Jane Hopper."
She gulped and began walking up to the stage. Her thoughts ran wild as she walked, a smile made of pure accomplishment graced her features.
"Jane Hopper, daughter of Terry Ives, and Jim Hopper is a junior, who enjoys reading, acting, and spending time with her best friends and boyfriend. After high school Jane plans on attending college and pursuing a career in acting." The president spoke.
El was welcomed by a boy who was currently the secretary of Hawkins National Honor Society. He placed the royal blue gown on her shoulders and gave her a hug. Then returned to his seat. El sat next to Mike and gripped his hand. She received a rather large round of applause, which cause her face to get red. Mike chuckled.
"Everyone thinks you're awesome El." He said under his breath. This caused a quiet laugh from the brunette.
The principal returned to the podium and gave a congratulations to the students, the viewers stood, giving them a round of applause, and the students were excused to get their pictures taken and have some food.
Mike and El were the last ones to walk off the stage, hand in hand as they went.
"I'm so proud of you El." He said softly, a smile tugged at the brunette's pink lips.
"Thank you Mike" She said as they began to walk over to their parents.
"Thank you for everything."
Authors note: Heyyyyy also a shitty ending but this one has been in the works since last year.
I cut this one short big time, am I the only one that sees El being an actress? Might just be me lmao.
I actually got to work at this ceremony thing at my school and I was like: Mileven!
Obviously!
Anyways, hope you enjoyed this, buh byeee!1!1!
