Everyone was careful around her.
Careful with what they let her do.

She was fucking sick of it.

"There" El pointed to a storefront themed in black. Some jagged print titled the place, it was some tattoo, piercing, and hair styling place everyone had seen, but never gone into.

"Are you sure El?" Lucas asked. He glanced to Dustin who had the same surprised and cautious expression on his face.

"Bitchin." She muttered and started walking, Lucas and Dustin stood with their mouths agape.

"We're just gonna wait at the food court, meet us there?" Dustin queried.

"mhm" was the only sound El made. She thought about what she was going to do.

Mike has black hair...

"Hey what can I do for you?" A girl with black ponytails on either side of her head asked.

"Hair dye?" El asked, she hoped the girl would know what she was asking. She stood up from behind the counter and led El to the isle where boxes of hair dye sat for sale. "Thank you" El replied, the employee nodded and resumed her place at the counter.

El scanned for a bit, eventually finding a nice shade of raven black that was to her liking. She snatched it off the counter and set it on the counter, dropping a wad of cash along side the small box.

"Going through a phase?" The employee asked, El glanced at her ears, there were three diamond studs on each side, El grinned.

"You could say that."

"Uhh El?" Dustin asked.

"Yeah?" She replied, grabbing one of his fries and taking a quick bite.

"Is Hopper going to kill us for letting you get all those ear piercings?" He asked, El shook her head.

"I won't let him." She said, glancing at Lucas who was coming back from throwing out his garbage.

"Holy shit El!" He exclaimed and rushed over to her, he leaned down to get a better look at her ears. "You look so badass!" Lucas stated, Dustin laughed and shook his head. El laughed along with them.

"Actually, but there's one more thing.." She said, reaching down to pull out the box of hair dye. She raised to where her two friends could see it and eyed them up.

Lucas and Dustin's eyes about bulged out of the their heads.

"Which one of you wants to help me with this?"

"What did we get ourselves into?" Lucas whispered.

"Mike's gonna kill us." Dustin replied back.

"Mike? I'm worried about Hopper!" Lucas half shouted, his voice cracking as he ran is hands over his short hair.

El grinned to the mirror, happy with Lucas's handiwork on her now pitch black hair. Her curls rested just above the base of her neck.

"This is amazing. Thank you Lucas" El said and jumped up to hug Lucas tightly.

"No problem Miss Hopper." He said with a chuckle and patted her back. The two pulled apart and El looked at the boys happily.

"Where to now?" She asked.

"Arcade!" The two boys shouted at the same time.

El, Dustin, and Lucas were passed out in Dustin's living room. It was the day of Mike, Will, and Max's return from their trips.

Lucas was slumped against the living room chair with El's head resting on a pillow on his lap. His arm draped over her torso as his head lolled back in deep sleep. He wore El's black striped shirt, and El was in his blue and yellow striped tank top.

Dustin laid on the chair, his legs dangling off the arm and his cheek smushed against the cushion. His face coated with his mother's make up and his curly hair in two french braids going down his head.

A highly intense game of truth or dare seemed to end that way with the teens asleep in such odd placements.

They were all so exhausted from their five days alone, they had done so much in 120 hours that they had almost forgotten that their friends were returning that day.

Imagine the surprise on their faces (especially Mike's) when they see El and Lucas in each other's clothes, and El with black hair and multiple earrings on each side of her head.

Will and Jonathan had arrived the day earlier, but very late at night, and Max got in at 3:00 that morning, and Mike was arriving at 8:00.

It was 8:17 when Mike, Will, and Max met outside Dustin's door, his mom greeted them with her usual upbeat persona.

"Dusty, Lucas, and Elly are in the living room kids, feel free to wake them all up!" She said and opened the door wider allowing the three teens inside.

"Thanks Mrs Henderson" Max said with a smile. Will and Max laughed at something Mike said, but instantly went quiet when they saw their friends in the living room.

"Holy shit." Max muttered, Will simply laughed, but Max and Mike were stunned for a minute. Mike seeing El cuddled up to Lucas and Max seeing Lucas with his arm around El.

They further looked at their friends attire and appearances.

"Oh my god El's hair!" Will exclaimed.

"Dustin's face! and he's got braids!" Max said and burst out laughing.

"Lucas and El switched shirts." Mike said, with his eyebrows raised. He approached El catching sight of her new earrings and his mouth gaped for a moment.

Max and Will took notice as well and looked at each other, holding back their laughs and as they watched Mike's expression. Everyone knew he hated missing out on exciting parts of El's life.

Mike knelt beside her and tucked a strand of her black hair behind her ear.

"El..baby wake up." He said so softly to her, he stroked her cheek gently and ran his fingers through her messy curls. "cmon El.."

She began to stir and fluttered open her eyes, she quickly realized that Mike was home and brightened up, she grinned and got up to throw herself on Mike in a tight hug. Mike chuckled and held her close to him.

"I missed you Mike." she muttered into his chest.

"I missed you too El." He responded, Max and Will proceeded to shake Dustin and Lucas awake. They began chatting while Mike and El still embraced each other. The two eventually pulled away.

In those following moments El, Lucas, And Dustin laughed as they recalled multiple events from the break, and Mike, Will, and Max told stories about their adventuress well.

All the while complaining about having to go back to school....

on Monday.
