Chapter 22: Loud Rising

4 years earlier, initial outbreak.

Leni Loud ran from the monster that had destroyed her home. Her baby sister Lily clutched tightly in her arms.

She headed for the first place she could think of, The Royal Woods Mall.

She burst into the front door of the mall panicking.

"It's ok Lily, I'll find somewhere safe." Leni said.

Almost immediately zombies started to pile on the door, trying to get in.

Leni's coworker Fiona immediately walked up to Leni and aimed a handgun to her face.

"WHA!!!" Leni shrieked.

"You weren't bitten were you!?!" Fiona asked.

"No, please don't shoot me Fiona!" Leni begged.

Fiona put down her gun. "Sorry Leni, I just had to be sure. Anyone who gets bitten starts turn into one of those things."

"It's like those movies Lincoln watches." Leni pointed out.

"And we've landed right in the middle of Dawn of the Dead." Another girl pointed out. A girl named Hanna Price, who worked at Hot Topic.

Another girl joined the conversation. She had black hair pulled into a pony tail. She wore a blue denim jacket, over a red t-shirt. She had a red skirt black legging, and black canvas shoes.

"I told you guys this was going to happen!" The girl said. "But no, you all thought I was crazy!"

"No one wants to hear your conspiracies Deb!" Hanna pointed out.

"Well look outside." Deb pointed to the door. "Actual zombies. THIS PROVES I'M NOT CRAZY!!!!"

"And you just happened to see this in your dreams." Fiona pointed out.

"In her dreams?" Leni said.

"Deb claims that..." Fiona started.

Deb then cut her off and grabbed Leni by the shoulders. "I'm a freaking psychic Leni! I get visions of the future in my dreams." Deb then saw Lily in Leni's arms. "But I didn't see this little cutie pie. And what's your name sweetie?"

"This is my sister Lily." Leni explained.

"Hi Lily." Deb said with a smile. "I'm Deb, I work at this mall with your sister."

Lily then pointed to Deb and said. "Coo Coo."

Deb frowned.

"That's weird." Leni said. "She usually says Poo Poo."

"People have been calling me Coo Coo, along with some less polite names, all m life." Deb said. "But my dreams are not to be taken lightly. A few years ago, I had a dream that the next election would be between the Annoying Orange from YouTube, and the Wicked Witch Of the West. And Look what happened."

"Not gonna lie." Hanna said. "That one was pretty accurate."

"Ok like seriously we gotta get someplace safe." A boy Leni's age said. The boy was named Chaz, he was a friend of Leni and Lori.

"Oh hey Chaz!" Leni said with a smile. Chaz was on the chubby side. Yet for some reason Leni thought he was kind of cute. Chaz had a sense of confidence, and personality that kept him higher on the social latter. He had a lot of energy for someone his size, and above all he was kind. Kindness was a virtue Leni held above all others.

Most girls in the school agreed, "Chaz may not be much of a looker, but damn is he fun to be around."

"Weather Deb is crazy or not." Chaz said. "Those things will break down those doors any minute, we gotta do something."
