"We are all part of one big family, the human family. And we all come together in the body of Marvel"-Stan Lee (Rest in Peace Stan, you are an inspiration to us all)

Alex Mercer stood in the dark misty forest. It was silent, aside from a few crickets chirping in the distance. A cool breeze flowed through Alex's dark grey hair.

"I don't like this." Alex said to the figure standing next to him.

Next to Alex Mercer stood none other than Death himself.

"I see no other option." Death said. "I don't like this any more than you do."

"I mean you're the embodiment of death." Alex pointed out. "Can't you stop it?"

"I may be the embodiment of death." Death said. "And I may be one of the oldest beings in the universe, but I am not the strongest. Even you Alex Mercer, have matched my strength. The End is a beast far beyond what even you or I could imagine."

"Yeah but this guy's a monster." Alex said.

"You're a shapeshifting mutant, and I'm the grim reaper." Death said. "We're both just as monstrous as he is. But if we are gonna have any hope in stopping the End. We will have to form an alliance with Pariah."

"Ah shit!" Alex said.

"You can continue your little blood feud with Pariah once the End has been destroyed." Death said, taking a French fry out of the French fry box he was holding, and eating it.

"Well what's with you and fast food anyway?" Alex asked.

"Fast food is one of those things that attracts death, if you know what I mean."

"I guess so." Alex said. then the two of them where blasted with the blinding headlights of the mobile operation center.

Two evolved stepped out of the massive truck, their eyes glowing red.

"Who seeks council with the dark lord Pariah?" one of the evolved asked.

The lights dimmed, Pariah stepped out of the truck and walked up to the group.

"Fellas, fellas." Pariah said. "Enough with the whole dark lord stuff. You make me sound like Voldemort or something."

"You would be a Potterhead." Alex grumbled under his breath.

"To what do I owe the pleasure." Pariah said, walking up to his guests. "Of meeting up with a couple dear old friends. Alex Mercer, and Death himself what a party. I almost wish we could have this meeting in my own bachelor pad. Sure, the exterior ain't much to look at, but as they say, it's the inside that counts."

"Well even if we wanted to visit the horror show you call the red zone." Death said. "We couldn't. You have some sort of barrier around the red zone, preventing anyone beside yourself from creating a portal into it."

"Well there is a front door." Pariah said.

"A front door, and miles of inexplicable horrors so terrifying that they would drive the strongest of men insane." Alex explained.

"Well not everybody can handle the new world." Pariah said. "But I would think one of the baddest shapeshifting monsters, the second most powerful evolved matched only by myself. Along with the grim reaper himself, would be able to handle some of the spooky monsters of the Red Zone."

"You'd be surprised." Death said.

"So, what is it you guys want?" Pariah asked.

"There is a threat, a beast, a monster that threatens all of existence." Death said. "We require your help in stopping it. I know you have no sympathy for mankind, but surely you'll help us in order to save your own sorry ass."
