"I'll start first," Alan expressed. "Ask me anything." This was new. "Okay why am I here?" I chose an easy question. "Because you have powers that the rest of us don't," he mumbled. Fine, be indirect. "Like what?" I sniff.

He gave me a knowing look. Only friends are supposed I give knowing looks! "Quinn, I know what you are," he told me. "And what is that?" I asked indignantly. "A vampire," he plainly announces. Well, he's got me there.

"But that doesn't really answer my question," I said. "No? Well, let me explain further, we have an international organization of vampires here-" I interrupt him. "Wait. International? So like, Mexican vampires? That doesn't seem right," I chuckle.

"As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted, this group has decided to 'better' the powers of vampires," he explained thoughtfully. "And you're going to help us," he said.

Before I can tell him otherwise he shushes me. "Now it's my turn," he said."Which vampire was it?" he asked leaning forward in his chair. Oh why not. "He was pale and tall with short black hair," I explained. Basically your typical vampire.

"Valen? Wonder why he didn't kill you. Hmmm," he asked mystified. I didn't really want to know. As he wondered I also wondered. But about something totally different. How am I gonna get out if this joint? I remembered the dumb guard. Maybe he would do something stupid and pose as a disraction.

Well, that might work but how am I gonna get out of these chains? Maybe I have heat vision. I commence to concentrating in the silver chains. I hadn't realized but Alan had come out if his stupor and had seen my bizarre behavior. "What....are....you....doing?" he asked slowly. Apparently he's never seen a weird person in action. "I'm trying to bust out of here," I said still staring. And then slowly to my surprise, the chains start to melt.
