Months passed, and Héctor and Imelda began to get used to their new life as a married couple. Just like she said she would, Imelda visited her brothers every other Tuesday and the twins always looked forward to it. She had never failed to show up until about a year after she and Héctor had moved. That Tuesday, she was too sick to get out of bed, let alone go visit her family. Héctor and Ernesto had planned some big concert, but Héctor had to cancel because he wanted to stay home with Imelda and make her soup.

No matter what Héctor tried, Imelda didn't seem to be getting any better. She spent most of the day asleep, but when she was awake, she felt extremely nauseous. Héctor spent three days staying at home with her and canceling all his performances. After those three days, Imelda insisted that he went back to living life normally, and he returned to performing.

After ten days, Imelda still wasn't better, and Héctor couldn't live life normally without worrying. He decided to call the doctor, despite her protests. While the doctor was at the house, Héctor spent the day with Ernesto, knowing he would go completely crazy if he stayed at home.

He came back just before dinnertime. "Imelda, I'm back!" he said. He immediately raced towards the bedroom so he could see her.

"Do you feel any better, mi amor? What did the doctor say?" Héctor asked.

"Sit down, Héctor," said Imelda.

Héctor immediately assumed the worst, being as dramatic as he was. His first thought was that his wife was dying. He bit his lip to keep himself from crying before she even said anything.

"I have some very big news to tell you, mi amor," Imelda said. She sounded happy, which was a surprise to Héctor since he had already convinced himself that the news was bad news.

"What is it?" asked Héctor impatiently.

"The doctor told me that..." said Imelda, pausing more to annoy Héctor than for emphasis.

"What?" asked Héctor.

"That I'm expecting," said Imelda.

"Expecting a..." asked Héctor.

Imelda nodded.

Now Héctor was crying, although these were happy tears. He squeezed Imelda tightly, and he didn't let go for a very long time.

"Oh!" said Héctor, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a letter. "This was in the mail. It's from the twins."

Imelda took the letter and opened it. It asked why she hadn't visited and said how much they missed her.

"I think I should write them back," said Imelda, looking around for a pen.

"We're seeing them this Tuesday. I think we should probably tell them in person," said Héctor.

When Imelda and Héctor walked through the door of Imelda's parents' house, the twins immediately approached them.

"Where were you last time?" demanded Oscar.

"And why didn't you write back?" asked Felipe.

"We started to think something happened to you!" said Oscar.

"We'll explain at dinner. Mamá and Papá need to hear," said Imelda, looking at Héctor.

As dinner was being cooked, the twins consistently questioned Imelda. When they realized she was keeping her mouth shut, they looked to Héctor.

"Héctor, will you please tell us!" begged Felipe. Héctor shook his head.

Dinner couldn't come soon enough for the twins. Imelda was still feeling sick, but she didn't say anything to anyone in case that ruined the surprise.

As soon as everyone was seated, the twins brought up the missed visit.

"You can tell them," said Imelda to Héctor. Héctor was very excited, because, despite how much he wanted to, he hadn't been able to share the news with anyone, since he and Imelda both agreed the twins should be the first to know.

"Well," said Héctor. "Imelda was feeling extremely sick. So sick that we ended up having to call the doctor. But then the doctor told us something super exciting."

"And what was that?" asked Oscar. Imelda smiled, his impatience reminding her of Héctor.

"He told us that you two are going to be tios," said Héctor. The twins sat there for a moment, confused, before realizing what Héctor meant.

"You guys are having a baby?" said Felipe. Imelda nodded.

"Yay!" said Oscar.

Imelda looked to her parents, who both appeared to be very happy. Héctor reached for Imelda's hand under the table. He grabbed it, and the couple looked at each other and smiled.
