Dinner time, and the group minus Matt have managed to sit next to each other without getting in trouble.
"Ugh," Taika complains, " Why does Matt get to sit with Selena and Clarisse with no problem, while we have to go all Metal Gear Solid?" She looks toward her half-brother, giving him the Taika Glare. Ian, looking very confused, asks "What's Metal Gear Solid?" She explains that it's a game where you have to sneak around and not get caught. Ian shrugs, continuing to stuff his face.
"Why're you eating so much?" Zea asks, an eyebrow raised.
"As you so kindly made me aware of, if I get too skinny and stay that way I'll become a male prostitute." Ian replies, looking at Danny.
"Why are you looking at me?" Danny asks
"Cause you eat the entire fucking world, but you don't put on any weight. If I even have a sliver of cake, I gained twenty pounds." Ian says, pouting. Danny shrugs and grins.
"Hannah aren't you gonna... Hannah? Where'd the bitch go?" Taika asks, looking at the girl's vacant seat puzzled.
"Does it matter if she's not here? I'm eating her food." "Danny replies, stealing some of Hannah's food off her plate.
Shrugging, Taika continues looking around the fire pit.
"What're you looking for , Taika Field trip," Ian asks, using the nickname that everyone knows she hates. Scowling at her friend, she replies, "Looking to see if there's anybody else from Holmes aside from us."
Danny, his mouth full of food, questioning the girl. "How's that going for you?"
"Ew, learn some manners Danny! Anyways. Not very well, no one's a half-blood. Hawks are so boring and mundane..." Taika says. Danny shrugs at the answer, continuing to eat.
"Hey, Matt, should we maybe get your friends to come over here? One of them is glaring at you....'" Selena whispers.
"No, it's fine. Besides, I'm not sure they really like," he points to Clarisse and whispers, "Clarisse very much."
"Ah, I see. Got it." Selena replies, getting what Matt says. Danny, having been watching the exchange, exclaims a loud "Oh my gods!"
"Oh what is it now," Taika retorts. "Can I eat in relative peace?"
"No, look at Selena. The way she's talking to Matt," Danny guides. Rolling her eyes in the process, Taika does as Danny said. She observes for a few minutes.
"Oh. OH! Oh damn, this is amazing!" Taika starts laughing hysterically, choking out words in between peals of laughter. "Selena's got the hots for Mattie-boy!"
"How can you tell?" Ian says, slow as usual.
"Look at her. The way she's talking to him, giving him all of her attention... She's even twirling her hair around her finger! I got the details from the Aphrodites: Selena twirls her hair when she likes somebody." Breathless by the end of her small speech, Taika catches her breath and smirks at her assembled friends.
"Woah, I'm gonna ask her whether she does like him or not." Danny announces.
"Good idea. Good luck, man." Taika replies
After dinner, Danny approaches Selena.
"Hey, Selena, would you mind answering a question for me?" Always straight to the point, Danny is.
"Um, okay. Aren't you one of Matt's friends?"
"Yeah, yeah, Danny is the name. Anyways, do you like anyone currently?" Unflinching, he speaks the question as if it was simply a inquiry about the weather forecast.
