Recap:

I saw Ruby sitting on the top step reading something. She got up and was holding my diary. "My life sucks, it just sucks." She read in a baby voice. "Give it back!" I walked towards her. "Oooh, baby's getting angry!" She laughed "Give it back!" I shouted. I ran towards her and grabbed it out of her hands.

The suddenness of it all must have made her jump.

She stepped backwards without realising what was behind her.

She tripped, and screamed.

That scream...It was the kind that stuck in your mind, echoing through your head.

She fell, I closed my eyes tight, not wanting to see what was happening before me.

I heard several bangs, sounding like her head hitting the stairs multiple times.

Then...silence.

I opened my eyes, stuck to the spot in fear.

Her lifeless body layed still.

Then, everyone came over. choruses of 'Is she dead?' and 'What happened' flyed through the air, hitting me like bricks.

I can only imagine what it must have looked like to them all. A lifeless body at the  bottom of the stairs, and me looking down at them all from the top...

Dear diary,                                                                                                                                                                 After the 'incident' yesterday, the ambulance came for Ruby, and the police.

I had to go into Grace's office and talk with a police woman.

"Now Star, I want you to answer every question honestly please. Now, please tell the truth, did you push Ruby down the stairs?"

"No. She had my diary and wouldn't give it back. She was standing right at the top of the stairs and I ran towards her to get it. The suddenness of it all must have startled her because she took a step back without realising what was behind her. Really, I swear that's exactly what happened."

She wrote something down on a peice of paper and nodded. "Well, we have this tape from the security cameras, watch this." She gestured to a small TV next to her. The video flicked on and I saw me run towards her. I had my hands out to grab the diary and, I guess, from the angle of the camera, it did look a little bit like I had pushed her.

"Don't worry, you're not in trouble, but we're moving you to a different house, it's specially for kids like you, it's to give you a fresh start in life." She told me.

I packed up my stuff and was driven to a big building. It was old and the paint on the walls was pealing. I didn't have to share a room with anyone there. I had a small bedroom, just a little bigger than the one in my adoption house. The windows had locks on them and the door was kept locked at all times.

All of the other kids think I'm a murderer. They were all told I pushed her. I didn't, and I've said that multiple times to multiple people, no one believes me. Apparently It's going in my file that I pushed her. Anyone who wants to adopt me Is going to see that file. Now any hope I had of getting adopted is gone.

Dear diary,                                                                                                                                                                 This is it, I'm running away.

I've been here 2 days and it's total hell! I've discovered something. Everyday, one of the care workers takes all the kids to school, apart from me. The other care worker sits in the living room watching TV with the window next to her open. She leaves during the adverts to go into the kitchen to make tea. That's when I'll strike. I've got my case packed and everythings ready.

I sat by the slightly open door to the living room waiting for the adverts. They came on finally and I heard her leave the room.

Quick as a flash, I ran in. I jumped up on the chair and then onto the window sill. I jumped out. I tore the hem of my dress a little whilst landing but I don't care, The only thing I care about right now is running. Running as far as my legs can carry me. Running away from this hell, running away from my life. Running from my problems, my past, and running to...my future.

I ran for what seemed like hours until I came to a feild. An abandoned feild in the middle of knowhere.

I layed on the grass and caught my breath. I smiled. I'm free. Free from everything. I don't know what I'm going to do about food and water but I'll figure that out later.

I kicked off my sandels and felt the soft grass on my feet. I moved my arms and legs, making what I called a grass angel.
